Be sure to stick around till the end where Andrew and I will reveal our choices for the best $1000 electric escooter for each of us.
Understand that there is no single electric scooter that is perfect for everyone, but there is an electric scooter out there that is perfect for you. E-scooter Guru Andrew N.Because the needs of riders vary so much, what may be the best escooter for me, may not be the best escooter for you and so on. One rider may need big range while another may have a need for speed. Someone else may want a good hill climber or plush suspension, and yet another rider may need an escooter that is super portable. To help you find your perfect $1000 escooter, we are going to grade some of the top 5 $1000 escooters in 4 categories, what we call the PQRS method.
- Portability:
- Quality
- Range
- Speed
| Escooter | Portability | Range | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unagi M1 E500 | 26.5 lb | 15 mi | 20 mph |
| Segway Max | 41.2 lb | 40 mi | 18.6 mph |
| Vsett 8 21 Ah | 51 lb | 40 mi | 25 mph |
| InMotion L9 HS | 52.9 lb | 50 mi | 25 mph |
| E-Twow GT SE | 29 lb | 23 mi | 25mph |
Unagi Model 1 E500 Escooter
The Unagi is the most portable and the best looking electric scooter on the market. But the good looks and ultra-portability comes with a sacrifice as the top speed is okay and the range is the lowest of any of the escooters we will be looking at in this article. The dual motors makes this little scooter a very capable hill climber!
Here is our full review of the Unagi Model 1.
- Portability: 26.5 lb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Quality: Quality construction, high end finish, easy to fold mechanism, solid honeycomb tires, ultraportable, lacks suspension. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Range: 15 mi ⭐️
- Speed: 20 mph star ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Segway Ninebot Max Escooter
The Segway has brand recognition and is a tried and true escooter that has been out for several years now. Despite its age, the Segway Ninebot Max electric scooter can still compete and it is often sold for less than $1000.
This escooter is well rounded, although it does not excel in any particular category. Check out our full review of the Ninebot Max.
- Portability: 41.2 lb ⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Quality: single motor, name brand, well established model, comfortable to ride, can be purchased at a discount. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Range: 40 mi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Speed: 18.6 mph ⭐️⭐️
Vsett 8 21Ah Escooter
The Vsett lineup of electric scooters was introduced in early 2021 but the new kid on the block has proven itself to be a quality brand that is well constructed and durable. The Vsett 8 is the entry level model to the new Vsett brand and it’s a great way to get introduced to the Vsett family.
The suspension gives this heavy scooter a solid comfortable feel and the NFC card lock is a nice touch. Your feet will love the spacious deck and comfy suspension on those long rides because this fast escooter has an impressive 40 mile range.
While the Vsett 8 is the second heaviest $1000 escooter we will be evaluating, it does have a retractable stem and folding handlebars which makes it easier to store in your trunk or in tight spaces.

- Portability: 51 lb ⭐️⭐️
- Quality: Heavy, dual suspension, unique green color, top end speed and range for a $1000 escooter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Range: 40 mi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Speed: 25 mph ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
InMotion L9 HS Escooter
I reviewed the original InMotion L9 which proved to be a solid long range commuter. The InMotion builds upon the Segway Ninebot Max design and since my last review, they have upgraded this escooter to add speed to the already great range. For a $1000 escooter, you can’t find an escooter with this kind of range or speed that also comes with such a nice display and under deck lighting.
The upgraded HS version of the L9 took the original marathon escooter that has the best range of any escooter in its class and gave it a speed boost. The InMotion L9 HS is the heaviest and least portable of the $1000 escooters that we reviewed.
- Portability: 52.9 lb ⭐️
- Quality: Top of the line speed and range for a $1000 escooter, tall stem is great for taller riders, large display, beautiful below the deck lighting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Range: 50 mi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Speed: 25 mph ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
E-Twow GT SE Escooter
I’ve reviewed previous iterations of the E-Twow and its obvious that the company has heard the consumers and have improved on this fast, lightweight electric scooter.
The E-Twow GT SE is the most portable and powerful of the $1000 electric scooter class. This escooter floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.
The ET-wow is as fast as any other escooter in its class and is almost as light as any of the ultraportable escooters we’ve seen. The ride is certainly zippy, and if you like strong torque in a super lightweight and portable package, this is the escooter for you.
At top speed, this lightweight scooter won’t feel as solid as its heavier competition and the handlebars are narrow, but these are sacrifices one makes when choosing one of the most powerful and portable escooters.
- Portability: 29 lb⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Ride quality: Fast torquey acceleration, ultra lightweight and ultra portable, the fastest ultraportable escooter, with decent range.⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Range: 23 mi⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Speed: 25 mph⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Conclusion:
If you have $1000 to spend on an escooter for yourself or on a loved one and you are looking for that perfect electric scooter, you should spend your hard earned cash on one of these electric scooters.
Fastest $1000 Electric Scooter:
If speed is what you need, then the Vsett 8, InMotion L9 and E-Twow GT SE are all fast $1000 escooters with a top speed of 25 mph. The main differences between these escooters is range and portability as described above.
Longest Range $1000 Electric Scooter:
If you crave big range, the winner here is the InMotion L9 which under ideal testing conditions will take you 50 miles on a charge. The Vsett 8 comes in second place with a range of 40 miles.
Most Portable $1000 Electric Scooter:
If you need something lightweight and compact, it doesn’t get better than the Unagi Model 1 E500 which comes in at 26.5 lbs or the E-Twow GT SE at 29 lbs. While Unagi does offer a less expensive single motor version, I wouldn’t mess with that if you have any hills or inclines during your commute.
For those that can’t decide between the two featherweight escooters by Unagi and E-Twow, then let range, speed and design help you make your decision:
- If you want a lightweight escooter that’s fast and has decent range, go for the E-Twow.
- If you want a lightweight escooter that looks like Apple designed it and you don’t mind a lower top speed or a much smaller battery and range, then get the Unagi.
