The Talaria XXX (also called the X3) is the newest in the Talaria lineup. While smaller than both the Talaria Sting MX3, MX4 and R models, you can’t ignore this bike when considering a Talaria purchase. It’s got a 5000W motor that propels the bike to 53 mph (once you’ve disabled the speed limiter), which is faster than a Surron X, it has a massive 40Ah battery, it boasts impressive features such as an RFID push-to-start function and suspension with 3 levels of adjustment, all for less than $3,000. It is 2” shorter and 20 lbs lighter, but shares the same IPM motor and amazing styling as its older brother the Talaria Sting R. We think this bike is excellently positioned as a lower-cost alternative to the beefier Surron and Talaria models. Though we wouldn’t recommend it for larger riders (taller than 6’ or heavier than 200 lbs), smaller riders will have a blast on this well crafted machine. Things We Love
The biggest advantage to this bike is the price, especially when compared with the Surron X and Talaria Sting R. Prices are always fluctuating, but right now you can get a brand-new XXX for just $2599 at electricycleshop.com here.
This bike is fast for its size, and beats the Surron X in both acceleration and top speed.
The knobby handlebar grips are excellent.
The rear shock has a single pivot point, which decreases travel by 1-2 inches but makes it much easier to remove the battery (3-5 minutes total).
Room for Improvement
Due to the belt drive, the XXX is considerably louder than the Sting R, which could be a positive or a negative.
The front suspension isn’t as excellent as we would have hoped, and we’ve already seen lots of videos of users doing DIY swaps to an upgraded air suspension.
The lower handlebars and thinner seat make it ergonomically uncomfortable for taller riders.
The foot pegs feel cheap and not super sturdy.
The material on the seat appears to be loose, and needs to be tightened.
