Varla

Varla started scheming back in 2018, but it wasn't until June of 2020 that they launched their first product: the Eagle One dual motor off-road scooter. The brand gained attention fairly quickly, selling 1,000 units in the second half of the year. Fast forward to 2023, and they now have six different models - mostly powerful off-road focused - with over 50,000 riders around the world.

Varla scooters are easy to recommend because they make a quality product, and more importantly, because they seem committed to improving that quality. For example, the massive improvements of the Eagle One V2.0 compared to the first Eagle One make it feel like an entirely different scooter! Varla also stands behind their products with an above average warranty coverage of two years, and they obtained UL certification for their battery systems in 2023.

Varla is primarily direct to consumer, meaning you buy a scooter online and set it up yourself. Fortunately, with scooters there isn't much to assemble; mount the handlebars, display, and lights and you're off to the races. However, unlike the vast majority of scooter manufacturers, Varla actually has quite a few dealers! As of December of 2023 they have 30 dealers in the United States, so if you live in a big city there's a decent chance you could test ride one before purchasing. And, of course, have a repair center to take it to if the worst should happen.
