STIHL

Founded in 1926 in Germany, STIHL is a family-owned manufacturer specializing in outdoor power equipment for forestry, agriculture, and landscaping. The brand is historically anchored in the development of the first portable chainsaws, a product category in which it has maintained a significant global market share for several decades.

Since its inception, the company has expanded its portfolio from gasoline-powered tools to a comprehensive ecosystem of battery-electric hardware. While known for high-torque manual tools, the brand's 2026 product line highlights a significant investment in autonomous technology. This is most notable in the iMOW robotic mower series, which utilizes integrated sensors and, in newer "EVO" iterations, satellite-supported navigation to manage large-scale turf maintenance with minimal manual oversight.

STIHL’s market positioning is defined by several key factors:

  • High Durability & Serviceability: Tools are often engineered with magnesium alloy components and designed for long-term maintenance, targeting professional arborists and contractors.
  • Dealer-Centric Distribution: Unlike many competitors, the brand primarily utilizes a specialized dealer network for sales and service rather than high-volume big-box retail chains.
  • System Integration: The "AP" and "AK" battery platforms allow for cross-compatibility between a wide range of tools, from blowers to chainsaws, standardizing energy management for residential and professional users.

In a professional context, STIHL is recognized for its emphasis on mechanical reliability and power-to-weight ratios. While the brand is undergoing an aggressive transition toward zero-emission battery tech and robotic solutions, its reputation remains rooted in heavy-duty engineering, positioning it as a high-performance standard in the outdoor power equipment industry.

The STIHL iMOW 7 EVO is an autonomous robotic mower designed for large-scale lawn maintenance of up to 5,000 m² and is capable of managing gradients up to 45% (extendable to 55% with an optional traction kit). The unit utilizes the Disc-cut system, featuring three free-swinging blades with a 28 cm cutting width and an electrically adjustable cutting height that can be managed via the MY iMOW® app. Navigation is governed by a perimeter wire system, supplemented by ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection and a rain sensor that allows the mower to adjust its schedule based on weather conditions. For connectivity and control, the EVO model integrates 4G mobile network access alongside Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing for remote management and real-time status updates through an LED matrix display and voice output. Security and safety features include a PIN code lock, an acoustic alarm system, and an integrated HMI (Human-Machine Interface) for manual operation.
