General Overview
Water Bottle Holder Mounts: The Engwe L20 2.0 comes with mounts for a water bottle holder. Riders can easily attach a bottle holder to stay hydrated, ideal for short commutes or longer rides.
Pedals: Equipped with standard plastic and metal pedals, the L20 offers good grip for everyday riding.
Rear Tail Light / Brake Light: The rear tail light doubles as a brake light, enhancing rider safety. It’s a simple yet effective safety upgrade for city and night riding. Most e-bikes at this price point have only a tail light and no brake light, so it’s cool to have this two-for-one special.
Quick Release Battery Removal: This e-bike features a quick-release battery system, allowing for easy removal and charging. This is incredibly convenient for riders who are looking to charge the battery separately from the bike. It also makes the process of swapping out batteries much easier.

Coil Suspension: The coil suspension system provides a smooth ride by absorbing shocks and bumps. Whether you’re riding on uneven city streets or off-road trails, this enhances comfort considerably.
Bell: The L20 comes equipped with a bell, a simple way to alert others around you. This will prove to be useful in busy areas, ensuring you can safely ride around pedestrians or other riders on the roads.

Tires: The 20 x 3-inch tires offer great traction and stability, making the bike suitable for both urban and off-road riding. The fat tires help to absorb shock and provide a smoother ride overall. It’s perfect for riders looking for an e-bike that can handle all different kinds of terrain.
LCD Display: The LCD display looks great in the sunlight. This display shows speed, battery level, distance, assist level and more.
What We love
Riding: The Engwe L20 2.0 has excellent ride quality. Most bikes under $800 only go 20mph, but this one gets up to 28mph. It has a traditional biking feel to it, and drops down to around 20 mph getting up hills. Most other e-bikes typically slow down to 15 mph or so getting up steep inclines.
Overall Look: The entire bike looks amazing, from the slender frame with sharp, contemporary lettering to the crisp LCD display. The nice matte black finish is also nice on the eyes. Most foldable e-bikes come with plastic fenders, so the metal fenders are a nice upgrade. In addition to matte black, the bike is also offered in a sea green and a rose pink.
Battery: The battery is 52V rather than 48V so you should get about a 7% increase in speed compared to comparably priced e-bikes.
Suspension: The front suspension did a surprisingly good job absorbing impact when dropping off curbs. Often with budget e-bikes you can hear the suspension rattling, but with the Engwe L20 2.0 it wasn’t noticeable at all.
Room for Improvement
Cadence Sensor: There is a bit of a delay with the pedal assist. When you stop pedaling you’re going to get a little bit of a runoff. For the price point we typically don’t expect a torque sensor, so understand this is a pitfall.
Noise: This bike comes with a pleasantly powerful motor, but with that comes added noise. The electric motor has a little revving sound when it’s accelerating, which on the bright side, certainly means people will know when you’re coming.
No Foldable Pedals: Most foldable e-bikes come with foldable pedals, but not the Engwe L20.
Water Resistance: There was no water resistance rating for the bike on their website, which makes it hard to know how the e-bike handles light rain. We’d recommend taking the car on rainy days.
The Freshly Charged Take
Overall, the Engwe L20 2.0 is a great deal if you’re on a budget and looking for one of the sleekest, fat-tire, foldable e-bikes that comes with a lot of bells and whistles. We like the silent suspension and tail light + brake light combo, and for >$800, this is a good competitor to the popular Lectric XP 3.0.
