Anker Solix F2000 Review – Is it feasible to power an entire electric convention with portable power stations?

by Nathan Schaumann

In this article, we do a deep dive into the Anker SOLIX F2000, a portable power station capable of powering your laptop, an electric scooter, and… an entire outdoor festival?

What is the Anker Solix F2000?

The Anker SOLIX F2000 is Anker’s most efficient and long-lasting portable battery. It has a capacity of 2048 watt-hours and can last 3,000 charge cycles, which is a lifetime of 10 years of constant use. This is 4 to 5 times longer than regular lithium ion batteries, because the SOLIX uses lithium iron phosphate batteries which are considerably more dependable. The batteries have a maximum output capacity of 2400 watts and weigh 67.2 lbs.

The battery can be charged by a car or power outlet, but also has a hookup for solar panels, making it a sustainable power source and great for emergencies like natural disasters where power goes out for days or weeks on end. With solar panels, you can charge the SOLIX while it is in use. But if using solar isn’t an option, the SOLIX has an incredibly short charge time and can go from 0% to 80% in an hour when plugged into a regular wall outlet.

Electrify Expo

Electrify Expo, the largest electric vehicle festival in North America, created an exclusive partnership with Anker to provide 100V power for every single one of their exhibits. Andrew headed out to Denver last week to check it out.

The Electrify Expo typically covers over a million square feet of exhibition space, including hundreds of displays by different exhibitors. They also move all around the country, from California to Miami.

What is the SOLIX powering at Electrify Expo?

The batteries could be seen everywhere at the expo in Denver. They powered DJ stations with speakers for the entire day, and all inflatable arches and signs. The expo had loud speakers throughout the area for announcements that were all powered by a SOLIX F2000. An added benefit – no extension cords anywhere in sight.

Many people who came to the Electrify Expo arrived on electric vehicles (not to mention the vendors in the expo). With a large power capacity and several outlets, the SOLIX can charge many small EVs, like scooters and bikes, at once. The air conditioning units that littered the expo were also all powered by a SOLIX.

Even though Denver reached temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the batteries performed well for the entirety of the three day event. The future could be one where Burning Man is powered entirely by portable batteries and solar power.
