The Dryft Board is a four wheel electric vehicle featuring a chromoly steel frame and a flexible bamboo and carbon fiber deck. This model uses a patent protected independent suspension system on the rear assembly to maintain traction on uneven pavement. Power is provided by a 500 watt brushless gearless hub motor which allows for a top speed of 28 miles per hour and a range of up to 25 miles. The electrical system includes a removable 48 volt 698 watt hour battery pack using Samsung 21700 cells. For braking performance the vehicle is equipped with a 16 inch front BMX tire and a 160 millimeter hydraulic disc brake system. The gross weight of the unit in its riding configuration is 61 pounds and its modular design permits the removal of the battery and deck for easier transport. The board supports a maximum rider weight of 275 pounds and features dual riding modes for commuting or sport focused use.
The Freshly Charged Take
The Dryft Board is the strangest rideable the Freshly Charged team has tried out in a while, and for the right person, it is also one of the most fun. A 500W front hub motor, switchable carve and drift modes, and a flexible bamboo deck combine into something that rides like a powered snowboard and demands real throttle discipline to control. The throttle curve is too aggressive and tire wear is a genuine ongoing cost, but Andrew was a big fan. If sketchy, physical, and skill-dependent sounds like a good time, this one might be for you.
