Why would anyone buy the Onewheel XR over the new Onewheel Pint X?

The new Onewheel Pint X looks, feels, and rides like the original Onewheel Pint but with the guts of a Onewheel XR which doubles the range and increases the speed.

The Onewheel Pint X is basically a Onewheel XR in Pint's clothing which sells for $1400 which is less than the Onewheel XR ($1799) and more than the original Onewheel Pint ($1050).

Why would anyone get the more expensive Onewheel XR over the Pint X at this point? The increased size is the biggest reason, but the $400 price difference doesn't justify it; especially when larger riders can opt for the new Onewheel GT for $400 more than the Onewheel XR.

The Onewheel XR is noticeably missing from the Onewheel website comparison page. This should not be surprising as the XR which was released in 2018 is getting long in the tooth and has lived a good product cycle.

With the new Onewheel Pint X and the Onewheel GT, the Onewheel XR will soon be phased out. I expect to see some good Black Friday discounts on the Onewheel XR this year as Future Motion will look to empty out their inventory.

Should I Buy a Onewheel XR or a Pint X?

Just because there's a new girl in town in the Onewheel Pint X, don't trash your Onewheel XR just yet. The Onewheel XR is still a great product, especially if you can get it at a discount.

In addition, third party market for Onewheel XR accessories is huge and you can expect big discounts this holiday season.

Jeff McCosker of the Float Life had some initial impressions and shared the following about the Pint X which may convince some to buy the XR or GT instead of the Onewheel Pint X:

Thicker bumper to fit extra batteries
No custom shaping at this time
New max speed of 18mph.
Digital shaping settings now end in "X" except for Redwood.
Strong Pint style pushback moved from 14-15 mph now at 17 mph for the Pint X
Perfect if you don’t need to go faster than 16 mph

We can see that while the Onewheel XR pushback was subtle, allowing riders to go faster than 18 mph, the Pint X pushback is strong and hits at 17 mph.

Riders will not be able to comfortably ride over 17 mph on the Pint X because of the aggressive pushback. This may be a deal killer for fast riders.

I've ordered a Onewheel Pint X and I'm still going to hold on to my Onewheel XR that I bought in 2018.
