The Ryvid Outset is a <$6,000 highway-capable motorcycle made by California-based Ryvid. They are already well-known for their flagship model the Ryvid Anthem (our written review here), but recently added the Outset to their lineup.
While the Anthem was more commuter-focused, the Outset aims to spice things up a little as an all-terrain motorcycle. Remarkably, at just $5,995, the Ryvid Outset is the most budget-friendly highway electric motorcycle you can get your hands on in the United States right now.
In this review, I’ll walk you through the specs, key features, pros & cons, and who this innovative e-bike is best suited for.

Ryvid Outset – Things We Love
Affordability: With a starting price that sits at just $5,995, the Ryvid Outset is the most affordable electric motorcycle currently in the US. The budget-friendly prices make it a good option for a lot of riders who want a decent motorcycle without spending too much. It’s also a good starting point before making a larger purchasing decision like a Zero motorcycle.
Urban Agility: Another great thing about the Ryvid Outset is its lightweight design and compact size. This makes it extremely easy to weave in and out of traffic when riding on busy streets. Also, at 315 lbs, it weighs considerably less than a Zero motorcycle (the SRF model weighs 500 lbs).
Portable Charging: This motorcycle is built with a removable, wheeled battery pack that offers a unique solution to charging on-the-go. According to Ryvid, 0-80% charging can be achieved in a little over an hour using a fast charger.
Versatility: The Outset caters to both commuters and riders seeking a touch of trail adventure; the Outset features wider handlebars and improved suspension, compared to the Anthem.
Ryvid Outset – Room for Improvement
Limited Range: While sufficient for short commutes, the battery capacity doesn’t accommodate extended journeys. Additionally, adding 50 miles of range with 1 hour of fast charging pales in comparison to most full-size electric vehicles.
Company Track Record: Ryvid is a relatively new manufacturer, and long-term reliability and support remain to be fully established. They are based out of California, and shipping is estimated on their website to be within 15-20 days.
Unique Design: Some riders might find the folded metal frame and exposed components aesthetically unconventional.
Colors
The Ryvid Outset comes in 2 different colors: “Sector Red” and “Vapor Grey”.
The Freshly Charged Take
If you want an affordable motorcycle suitable for highway cruising and off-road trailblazing, the Outset is definitely worth considering.
However, if you regularly travel longer distances or require a more traditional motorcycle aesthetic, you might prefer alternatives with larger batteries and different styling.
