The Cybertruck has created more hype than any other car released in the last few years. But does it live up to the hype, now that the first batch have been delivered and we have real-world data and user experience? Here are 5 reasons why you should not consider buying a Cybertruck.

Reason #1: Price Higher Than Quoted

The Tesla Cybertruck was originally quoted in 2019 at a price of $39,900, which was a no-brainer for tens of thousands of people, as evidenced by the pre-orders that instantly piled up. Now that the truck has been officially released, the base model starts at $60k+, and the only actually available models are the higher-trim models costing upwards of $80k. Yet another case of false Tesla advertising.

Reason #2: No FSD

Even though Tesla Cybertruck reservation holders were assured they would receive Full-Self-Driving mode, even those who paid in full for the feature months ago find themselves with no estimated time of arrival for FSD to be launched and accessible on the Cybertruck.

Reason #3: Panel Gaps

Many users have complained about design flaws, most notably panel gaps between the front and rear doors. While this isn't a safety hazard, it does detract from the fit and finish of the truck, and raises concerns if there could be panel gaps in other places as well.

Reason #4: Small Frunk

When compared to electric trucks like the Rivian R1T or the Ford Lightning, the Cybertruck has considerably less cargo space in the front. The Rivian R1T offers 11.1 cubic feet, the Ford Lightning offers 14.1 cubic feet, while the Cybertruck only offers 7 cubic feet.

Reason #5: Wait Time

Even if you are dead-set on getting a Tesla Cybertruck, if you place an order now you could be waiting up to 3 years, depending on which model you reserve. By that time, it's likely that many more comparable electric trucks will be available on the market, competing for your dollar.

Reasons To Purchase The Cybertruck

With all that being said, there are plenty of reasons to consider this vehicle. The mind-numbing acceleration of 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, 11,000 lb towing capacity, completely unique aesthetics, and the Tesla brand name are all more than enough to justify it as a wise purchase for someone in the market for an electric truck.
