We finally reviewed the Apollo City! You guys have been requesting us to review an Apollo scooter for a long time, so here is our first official Apollo review. We had a great time testing out the Apollo City, and are excited to share what we liked, what we hated, and who we think should get this scooter. Overall we were very impressed by the premium build quality and huge amounts of features. Some drawbacks are the weak light, and less-than-ideal front fender + kickstand design.

What We Love About the Apollo City
Aesthetics: We like the look of the Apollo City. It’s nice to see a scooter that doesn’t just look like a clone of another brand.
Braking: In addition to the drum brakes that work surprisingly well, the regen braking of the Apollo City is better than any other scooter we have tested. You can stop using only the regen braking, and you can adjust the strength with the dedicated regen brake throttle.
Folding Mechanism: We like the spring-loaded folding handle that pops open when you go to release the latch holding the stem in place. The scooter also locks into itself when folding, and has an additional latch to ensure that it stays folded when you pick it up by the stem.
Cable Management: There are only two exposed cables on the stem, and both are thin and inconspicuous.
Turn Signals: The turn signals are easily visible from in front or behind, and they have an auto-time-off feature, which is something we haven’t seen before.
App: The app was surprisingly easy to set up, and boasts a number of useful features: you can adjust the regen braking and acceleration, you can track your ride, and you can check the controller temperature.
Extra Bolts: This is the first scooter we’ve seen that is shipped with extra bolts. The bolts are also all numbered, and there is a guide in the manual of where each bolt goes. Neat!
What We Hate About the Apollo City
App Issues: When setting up the scooter, at one point all of the settings we had adjusted reset, and we had to re-connect to the scooter and start all over.
Charge Port: The Apollo City only has one charge port, so even if you have a 5A fast charger it will take 4 hours to fully charge.
Front Light: We like that the 500 lumen light is adjustable, but it just isn’t bright enough for night riding.
Handlebar Width: Usually wider handlebars are better, because your arms can take a wider stance, giving you more control. However with the Apollo City, there is an inch or two of width on both sides that is just taken up by the turning signals. The extra width reduces maneuverability of the scooter when trying to fit through tight spaces.
Horn: Although the City does have a bell, it doesn’t have a horn, and the bell certainly isn’t loud enough for alerting cars.
Front Fender: The front fender isn’t nearly large enough, and there is a lot of mud and debris that got thrown up by the front tire onto the deck and front suspension area of the scooter.
Kickstand: The kickstand isn’t very wide, and feels a little flimsy. It also isn’t angled well, making it difficult to park the City on anything other than perfectly flat ground.
Price: The Apollo City is a more expensive than many other scooters with much faster top speeds and longer ranges. However, the additional features make up for this difference.
