EUFY E18

EUFY E18: The EASIEST Robot Mower to Set Up and Use:

by Nathan Schaumann

We checked out the new EUFY E18 Lawn Mower, and it’s genuinely changing the robot mower game. This innovative mower uses Vision Full Self-Driving technology that eliminates the need for boundary wires, antennas, or satellite calibration. After a few days of testing, we found the EUFY E18 to be the easiest and smartest robot mower we’ve used – just set it down, press start, and let it go.

What makes the EUFY E18 Lawn Mower different from other robot mowers?

The standout feature is its Vision FSD technology that uses cameras and intelligent algorithms to map and navigate your yard. Unlike traditional robot mowers that require boundary wires or satellite connections, the E18 sees and understands your lawn boundaries automatically. This means it works perfectly under trees or near buildings where satellite-based mowers often struggle.

How easy is the EUFY E18 to set up?

Setup took us just 10 minutes – the fastest we’ve experienced with any robot mower. We simply placed the charging base, connected the mower to Wi-Fi using the Eufy app (the same one used for other Eufy smart home devices), and pressed start. The mower then mapped our entire yard in about 45 minutes, compared to the 1.5-2 hours typically needed with other systems that require manual boundary setting.

How well does the EUFY E18 handle obstacles and pets?

During our testing, the 3D perception system impressed us by identifying and avoiding obstacles like toys, furniture, and even our dog. When our dog was in its path, the mower detected him, changed direction, and later returned to mow the missed area once the path was clear. This smart obstacle avoidance leads to less worry about pet safety or damage to yard items.

What’s the maximum slope the EUFY E18 can handle?

We tested the E18 on increasingly steep slopes and were surprised by its climbing ability. While officially rated for 18° slopes, we successfully tested it on inclines up to 26° without any issues. The large rear wheels (about 7.5 inches in diameter) provide excellent traction on hills and uneven terrain.

How does the EUFY E18 map your yard?

The mapping process is completely hands-free. The mower uses its cameras to identify lawn edges, pathways, and obstacles, creating a detailed map in the app. Unlike other mowers where you need to drive it around the perimeter manually, the E18 figures everything out on its own, resulting in more precise edge detection and coverage.

What’s the difference between the E15 and E18 models?

Both models use identical technology and have the same battery capacity. The difference is in the software – the E18 is programmed to handle larger yards than the E15. If you have a smaller lawn, the E15 offers the same features at a lower price point.

Does the EUFY E18 require Wi-Fi to operate?

This is one limitation we discovered – the E18 needs decent Wi-Fi coverage throughout your yard for optimal performance. While it can still follow scheduled mowing patterns with intermittent connectivity, initial setup and mapping require a stable connection. For yards with poor Wi-Fi coverage, you might need to use a mobile hotspot during setup.

Pros and Cons Based on Our Testing

Pros

  • Incredibly simple 10-minute setup with no wires or antennas
  • Excellent obstacle detection that safely avoids pets and objects
  • Works perfectly under trees and near buildings
  • Handles slopes up to 26° in our tests
  • Quiet operation that won’t disturb neighbors

Cons

  • Requires good Wi-Fi coverage in your yard
  • Cannot mow separated lawn areas (like front and back yards divided by fences) without purchasing additional base stations
  • Battery drains relatively quickly, needing to recharge for larger yards
  • Cannot operate at night due to the vision system’s light requirements

The Freshly Charged Take

After extensive testing, we’re impressed with how the EUFY E18 simplifies lawn care. The wire-free setup and automatic mapping solve the biggest headaches of traditional robot mowers, while the obstacle avoidance provides peace of mind for pet owners (or young kids!).

For homeowners with a single connected lawn area and decent Wi-Fi coverage, this mower delivers a true “set it and forget it” experience. The limitations around separated lawn areas and night operation are minor drawbacks for most users, especially considering the time saved on setup and boundary management.

The EUFY E18 represents the future of robot lawn mowers – smarter, simpler, and more adaptable to real-world yards. If you’ve been hesitant about robot mowers because of complex setup requirements, the E18 might be the breakthrough product that finally makes sense for your lawn care needs.
