How powerful are the motors on the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly boasts dual 1000 watt motors. This is the first time I have ever witnessed dual motors on an eBike, and they create way more power than any eBike we have reviewed. We received the dual 750 watt motor version to test so the the updated versions will only be more powerful.

We have been told the dual 750 watt motor will have the same top speed as the dual 1000 watt motor version. However, the dual 1000 watt motor version will have a faster acceleration.

The main reason for the upgrade to dual 1000 watt motors is due to supply chain issues. Ariel Riders, the makers of the Grizzly, said it was much easier to acquire 1000 watt motors, so all Grizzly ebikes will have dual 1000 watt motors moving forward.

Is the suspension on the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike adjustable?

One of my favorite features about the Grizzly is its adjustable front and rear suspension. The front has an adjustable hydraulic suspension where you can adjust the rebound speed, and the rear has an adjustable air suspension.

I love that you can dial in the suspension based on what type of riding you will be doing.

How fast does the Ariel Rider Grizzly Go?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly comes stock as a Class 2 eBike with a max speed of 20 MPH/32.19 KMH. However, you can unlock it to go up to 36 MPH/59.94 KMH. After unlocking it, the Ariel Rider Grizzly is the fastest eBike I have ever ridden.

With it unlocked and using the throttle, it feels like I am riding a motorcycle or motorized scooter. Just twist the throttle and feel the tires peel out. There is a ton of power being generated.

How do I unlock the top speed of the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike?

  1. Power on the eBike
  2. Press the power button twice to access the main menu
  3. Scroll down to the … under “basic settings”
  4. Press the power button
  5. Scroll down to “Advance setting”

What is the Ariel Rider Grizzly Password?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike is Motorcycle Inspired

The Ariel Rider bicycles are inspired by Ariel Rider Motorcycles. They also remind me of really old Harley Davidsons with their tubular frame and large saddle. The Ariel Grizzly ebike does remind me of the very popular Super 73 eBikes.

The overall appearance of the Ariel Rider Grizzly is very aesthetically pleasing. The logo and branding is tastefully done and the leather stitched hand grips are a nice touch.

The look of the Grizzly is not for everyone, but Ariel Rider carries a lot of cool looking ebikes.

The Seat on the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike is Great!

The stock seat on the Ariel Rider Grizzly is very comfortable for long rides. It is big and soft.

You can also buy a longer saddle if you want to carry an additional passenger. There are also companies offering custom saddles in different types of upholstery, like snakeskin.

Can you ride the Ariel Rider Grizzly with two people?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly comes stock with foot pegs for an additional rider. However, the saddle is only designed for one person. Ariel Rider sells a longer saddle if you are planning on riding with a passenger.

The Ariel Rider Grizzly Tires are Puncture Resistant

The Ariel Rider Grizzly has 20″x4″ CST puncture-resistant tires. The tires are nice and fat, and offer great traction on roads, trails and packed gravel. I am not 100% sure what makes the tires puncture resistant, but I have ridden them over sharp granite with zero issues so far.

What size of battery does the Ariel Grizzly Ebike have?

The battery on the Ariel Grizzly is two batteries that equate to 52V 35Ah. The battery in the center is a 52V 15Ah, and the rear is 52V 20Ah. You can also remove the batteries with a key for extra security and easier charging.

The newest version of the Grizzly will come with two 4A fan cooled chargers to speed up the charge time. With dual chargers you should be able to charge the battery from 0% to 100% in 6 hours.

How is the display on the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike?

I love the display on the Ariel Rider Grizzly. Overall, you can see it clearly most of the time. However, it can be a little tough to see in direct sunlight especially with polarized sunglasses.

I do love the ease and function of the display. It is very easy to navigate through the menu and adjust settings.

The Ariel Rider Grizzly ebike has pedal assist and a twist throttle

The reason I think the Ariel Rider Grizzly could replace a vehicle or motorcycle is because you don’t have to only use pedal assist. You can simply twist the throttle and take the eBike for a rip.

You can turn pedal assist off or choose between 1 of the 5 speed settings depending on the amount of assist you prefer.

Top 5 Drawbacks

  1. Too much pedal assist when speed is unlocked
  2. Heavy
  3. Rattles when going off jumps
  4. Need special carrier to transport
  5. Not designed for extremely steep inclines

Does the pedal assist work well on the Ariel Rider Grizzly?

The pedal assist works well when the Ariel Rider Grizzly is locked to a class 2 eBike. However, once you unlock the top speed of 36 MPH the pedal assist becomes very powerful, even on its lowest setting.

If you unlock the top speed of 36 mph and have the Grizzly in speed setting 1, the pedal assist is very aggressive and could be hard to control in a crowd. Luckily, you can simply turn pedal assist completely off to navigate crowded conditions.

What is the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike Weight?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly weighs 104 lbs (47 kg). The Grizzly is not the most nimble bike due to its weight. I can do a wheelie with a 100 lb scooter pretty easy, but it is hard for me to do wheelies with the Grizzly.

Overall, the Ariel Rider is the heaviest eBike we have reviewed.

Ariel Rider Grizzly Adjustable Suspension

Is the Ariel Rider Grizzly designed to hit jumps?

Overall, I do not think the Ariel Rider Grizzly is designed to hit jumps. Have I hit jumps with it and have others? Absolutely!

The Ariel Rider Grizzly is a sweet ebike but the chain rattles when hitting jumps and dropping curbs. The heavy Ariel Rider Grizzly ebike is much better suited going fast on the ground.

You can take the Ariel Grizzly on mountain biking trails but it is heavy and can struggle on very steep inclines.

How do you transport the Ariel Rider Grizzly ebike?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly is massive and does not fit in most vehicles. I was able to get the Grizzly in the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee but it was a very tight squeeze. I also could not use my traditional bike trailer hitch bike rack because the Grizzly is too heavy.

The best solution to transport the Grizzly is to ride it to your destination or find a dirt bike trailer hitch. A dirt bike trailer hitch with tie downs can support the weight of the Grizzly.

Ariel Rider Grizzly Unique Look for an Ebike and Emotorcycle

How steep of an incline can the Ariel Rider Grizzly climb?

The Ariel Rider grizzly can climb a decent grade incline. We were able to ride up 30 degree dirt path inclines.

However, the Grizzly is not designed for mountain biking trails. The eBike is so heavy, if you ever have to attempt a steep incline and have to jump off, trying to handle the heavy bike will be difficult.

Who is the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike perfect for?

The Ariel Rider Grizzly is amazing fun and great for transportation. This ebike is perfect for the person who is looking to replace a moped, motorcycle, or motorized scooter.

Where we live we don’t have to license, insure, or register the Grizzly ebike like you would have to with a moped or motorcycle. With speeds of up to 36 mph on the Grizzly, you can get to your destination pretty quickly.

The Grizzly offers a unique dual motor ebike with big power. If you are thinking about a Super 73 eBike, the Grizzly offers a similar look with dual motors.

Ariel Rider Grizzly Open Road

Who is the Ariel Rider Grizzly not for?

The Grizzly is not designed for road bike enthusiasts. The eBike is massive with its large frame and huge tires. Manually riding the Grizzly is a pain because it is so heavy.

The Grizzly is mainly designed for those who like to use a throttle or minimally work for pedal assist. So if you like to ride bikes to stay in shape, you may want to pass on the Grizzly.

You will also want to pass on the Grizzly if you expect to take it on advanced mountain biking trails. The full suspension works well to create a comfy ride on moderate trails. However, the bike is not designed to be launched on advanced mountain biking trails.

Final Impressions of the Ariel Rider Grizzly Ebike

I love the Ariel Rider Grizzly. The Grizzly is a ton of fun, and it really does feel like I am riding a motorcycle. While 36 Mph on a motorcycle is kind of boring, 36 Mph on the Ariel Rider Grizzly is a blast going on roads and trails.

I get compliments all the time about how unique the Grizzly looks. When I ride a traditional bike to work in the heat of the summer, I am drenched in sweat when I get to the office.

I rode the Grizzly to work in 90 degree weather and barely broke a sweat, letting the powerful dual motors do most of the work for me.

The light is perfect for night riding, and the battery is massive to take me on long rides. The 20″x4″ tires on the Grizzly create an ultra stable ride and instill confidence on loose gravel. You can conserve power by switching the Grizzly to single motor, but I get plenty of range in dual motors.

Overall, the Grizzly brings a huge smile to my face that I could eat a banana sideways!
