It’s designed for people who want versatility, modern features, and a premium ride feel, without spending $3,000+. It’s also a top pick for anyone who values safety, wants to ride year-round, and appreciates a clean, sleek design.
UPDATE: Aventon just launched an OTA update for their new ACU-powered Ebikes that gives the riders access to BOOST mode, and the option to switch between torque or cadence. The option to customize how your bike rides (whether torque or cadence) has only been available from some brands like Velotric or Troxus, but now we see Aventon joining the party with this update. The fact that the ACU technology facilitates these types of updates is pretty exciting! If you own a camera, you’ll know some of the software updates can make the unit feel like a brand new piece of tech, and it’s cool to see that here with the Aventon bikes in real-time.
Aventure 3 Overview: Quick Specs (and what they mean)

Will the Aventure 3 fit me?
This bike is available in two sizes:
- Regular: 4’11” – 5’7”
- Large: 5’7” – 6’1”
The step-through frame makes it easier to mount and dismount, especially helpful for seniors, riders with knee issues, or anyone who just doesn’t want to swing a leg over a high bar. I haven't personally seen a person 4'11" on the regular frame, but it's a bit of a stretch, especially with the seat-post suspension. If you're in the 5'-5'4" range, I'd highly recommend riding one before purchasing, as it may be a bit larger than Aventon makes it seem. The larger folks at that 6'1" mark will be a good fit, but should go with the large frame. There's plenty of seatpost here to raise up the seat, but those taller riders may find the riding position a bit too aggressive for what they're after. Or it could be exactly what they're after!
The 50mm suspension seat post, wide-ish saddle, and adjustable front fork add to the plush ride. At 77 lbs, it’s heavy to lift, but stable on the road. It really does have a refined riding experience.
Jimmy put it best: “Sometimes I’m close to the weight limit on other bikes—this one makes me feel like I went on a diet.”
How does the Aventure 3 feel to ride, and does it perform?
Smooth. Responsive. Confident.
That’s thanks to the torque sensor, which adjusts motor output based on how hard you pedal, making it feel like a natural extension of your own strength. There’s no awkward delay or runaway boost like you get with cadence-only sensors.

- Brake test: Stopped from 20 mph in 22 feet—solid for a fat-tire ebike.

At $1,999, the Aventure 3 isn’t the cheapest fat tire ebike, but you’re getting a ton of value:

Some other bikes at this price point may offer a 48V system instead of 36V, but Aventon squeezes impressive performance out of its setup. Jimmy even noted: “Not sure how they did it, but this 36V system rides like a 48V.”
Range is usually the first thing that comes to mind when we hear 36V, and originally, we thought this whole 36V thing was a misstep from one of the Big 3 ebike companies. However, my buddy Eric has been range testing the absolute heck out of his Aventure 3 (step-though, cobalt blue, for those who are curious), and he's consistently getting 50-55 miles on this battery. If you're looking for absolute top speed and torque, a 36V system is not the answer, but if you're looking for longevity and mileage, a lower voltage system might be the ticket to achieve that.
And to put this particular battery system in perspective, it's got more watt-hours (capacity) than a 48V, 15Ah battery (which is a pretty common standard among the competition). The Aventon 36V, 20Ah battery has 733Wh, whereas a 48V, 15Ah battery only has 720Ah. 13Wh is not a huge difference in real-world scenarios, so to keep it simple, we can think of their battery as being equivalent to a 15Ah battery in a 48V system.
Should you buy the Aventon Aventure 3?
Buy this if:
- You want a smart, all-season fat tire bike for pavement and dirt
- You value peace of mind with GPS and anti-theft features
- You care about frame aesthetics and smooth ride feel
- You’re heavier or hauling cargo and want the extra capacity
- You like dialing in your ride via an app
Skip this if:
- You need to go over 28 mph (this one respects Class 3 limits)
- You’re looking for the lightest or cheapest fat tire ebike
- You want a rear rack with a heavier weight rating than 59 lbs
