Adding to the list of recent E-bike refreshes, we have the all-new Lectric XPeak 2.0.
The original Lectric XPeak was already a great, affordable e-bike for off-road trails, with excellent engineering designed to handle nearly all riding conditions. Building off of that base comes the 2.0 version, and it is quite the refresh. It has a lot of the same upgrades as the Lectric XPedition 2.0, and we're excited about the direction Lectric is taking it's robust lineup of e-bikes. Keep reading for our full review, and our overall take on the bike.

Updates from the OG Lectric XPeak
Grips: The handlebar grips on the old XPeak would slip and slide around the handlebar, but the new grips are locked in place with a screw that is visible in the picture.
Throttle: The thumb throttle from the original XPeak is preserved, located on the left side directly under the control module.
Shifter: The Shimano 8-speed shifter has been replaced with a thumb-and-trigger shifter on the right side handlebar.
Torque Sensor: One of the biggest changes on the 2.0 version of the Lectric XPeak is the upgrade from a cadence sensor to a torque sensor. The torque sensor gives a much more natural feel to the ride, rather than a big surge of power as soon as you move the pedals. Torque sensors also don’t have “runoff” - after you have stopped pedaling on a cadence sensor bike, typically the motor keeps providing power for a second or two. Torque sensors have more control and are less likely to catch you off-guard with unneeded power.
Brake Light: While the tail light doesn’t function as a brake light, it turns on with the rest of the lights on the bike.
Derailleur: The previous Shimano derailleur has finally been updated to an 8-speed Shimano Altus derailleur. We like the quality of the Altus derailleurs much better, the Shimanos feel cheap in comparison.
Reinforced Frame: The Lectric Xpeak 2.0 features a sturdier frame when compared to the original, which had some instability issues while riding. With the reinforcement, the XPeak 2.0 is much more equipped for rough riding and jumps.
Tires: The tires have upgraded to a 26” by 4” fat tires, with 3mm of kevlar lining for increased puncture resistance.
Display: Lectric added a color display to the Xpeak 2.0, which looks phenomenal and shows the battery life, instantaneous watt output, trip meter and speedometer. The display is also easily visible in direct sunlight.
Room for Improvement
Bottom-end torque: If you hit the throttle on a big incline, the bike struggles to get moving. If you have a running start, it's much easier to access the full power of the motor, but at low speeds it feels sluggish.
Front Light: The headlight in the front is large, but not very bright. The beam is underpowered, and the cords in front block some of the available light, further reducing the light throw. We'd recommend a handlebar-mounted, high-powered light for night riding.
Battery removal: Removing the battery is significantly more challenging than most e-bikes. This isn't a hassle, however if you decide to keep the battery in the bike while charging.
The Freshly Charged Take
If you only have $1,399 to spend, and you want the best long-range fat-tire e-bike available, the XPeak 2.0 is unquestionably for you. No other bike comes close in the <$1500 price range, and with Lectric’s excellent U.S. based customer service, you can be confident that you will be taken care of if anything goes wrong with the bike.
