Written Review
The Aventon Sinch Step Through (ST) electric bike is the best looking foldable electric bike we have reviewed. If you are looking for a step through ebike that folds and looks great, then the Aventon Sinch should be a serious contender. The Sinch comes delivered almost fully assembled, looks amazing, has an easy to mount “step through” frame and folds into a small portable package. Aventon has been in the bike industry since 2012, originally as a fixed gear bicycle company. In 2018, Aventon moved into the ebike space and has released some innovative designs that have gained industry recognition. The innovation comes through with the Sinch ST, making it stand out from a crowd of foldable ebikes.
In this review, we will tell you what we love and hate about the Aventon Sinch Step Through. We will also let you know who we think the Sinch Step Through is perfect for.

Top 10 Things we love about the Aventon Sinch Step Through Ebike
- Ultra Portable
- Color Display
- Blutetooth Display
- Clean lines with minimal weld marks
- Beautiful paint job
- Throttle
- Fully Assembled
- Matching battery built into frame
- Brown wall tires
- Gorgeous bike
The Aventon Sinch Step Through Folds and Opens Quickly and Securely
You can fold unfold the Aventon Sinch ST in under 10 seconds. Once folded, the ebike is nice and compact and fits in larger trunks. The ability to fold an electric bike into a small package allows recreational riders the ability to easily transport their ebike for their next adventure.
The Color Display on the Aventon Sinch is Filled with Features
In the past, Aventon used a black and white display like many other ebike companies. When Aventon released the Aventure, they came out with their own color display along with a lot of new features. I was pleased to find the new Aventon Soltera ebike was outfitted with the same great color display found on the Aventure. Some features I like about the display is that it shows you calories burned, kilograms of CO2 emissions saved, and how many trees saved during your ride. It’s a fun way to track your ride progress. The display is easily controlled with the buttons on the left side of the handlebar.
The Aventon Sinch Mobile App
The color display on the Aventon Sinch ST is Bluetooth enabled. One of my favorite features of the app is that it allows you to track your rides. The app stores your current and previous rides, giving details of your average speed, top speed, distance traveled, CO2 emissions saved, and calories burnt. You can also use the app to motivate you against other Aventon riders. There is a section in the app for cycling rank. The cycling rank will show you how you rank against other Aventon riders for the day, week, month, and total. There is a discover tab in the app that allows you to share pictures and post with other Aventon riders. The app even allows you to find local Aventon dealers for repairs. Aventon is looking to capitalize on the popularity of social bike competitive apps and programs such as Peloton and Strava. The Aventon Sinch Ebike Has a Premium Feel and Construction
Jimmy and I have reviewed numerous ebikes, and most have chunky weld marks giving the bikes a very industrial feel. Aventon grinds down their weld marks to make the frame look flawless. It is a detail that really help Aventon stand out from their competitors.A paint job to be proud of!
On top of having seamless weld marks, Aventon has mastered their paint jobs. The paint finish on the Aventon Sinch ST is stunning. Aventon came out with two new colors for the Sinch ST: Campfire Red and Moss Green.
Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through have a throttle?
Yes, the Aventon Sinch ST has a thumb throttle on the left. I love having the option to hit the throttle to power up a hill or when I am just feeling winded or lazy. When starting on a hill with the Sinch ST, a throttle makes it so much easier to get going.
Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through require any assembly?
Probably one of the best features of the Aventon Sinch ST is that it requires zero assembly. As soon as you unbox and unfold the Sinch ST, you will only need to adjust the display and brake levers. The Aventon Sinch ST is the most complete ebike we have reviewed right out of the box. Click here for the current pricing on the Aventon Sinch Step Through. What type of battery is in the Aventon Sinch Step Through?
The Sinch ST has a 48V 14Ah battery, comprised of LG or Samsung cells. The battery is built into the frame and is inserted from the top. You don’t have to worry about batteries falling out while riding the Sinch ST. The battery is painted the same color as the bike, blending in seamlessly with the frame.
What type of tires are on the Aventon Sinch Step Through?
The Aventon Sinch ST features 20″ by 4″ Chao Yang Arisun tires. The tires have a unique diamond tread and a beautiful brown wall. The brown wall tires along with the stunning paint job makes the bike pop. The tread feels great on smooth pavement and loose gravel.

Top Things We Hate about the Aventon Sinch Step Through
- Mechanical brakes
- Doesn’t feel like traditional biking
- No throttle in 0 PAS
- No fenders
- Low water resistance rating
- Small suspension travel
- No front facing light or taillights
What type of brakes are on the Aventon Sinch Step Through?
The Aventon Sinch ST feature Tektro mechanical disc brakes. I prefer hydraulic brakes. I think Aventon chose mechanical brakes because the Sinch is foldable. Hydraulic brakes can get air bubbles in the lines when you fold the bike, so it makes sense why they chose mechanical brakes. The brakes work great, but hydraulic brakes would work better.
Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through feel like riding a traditional bike?
No, the Aventon Sinch ST does not feel like a traditional bike. If you are looking for a traditional biking experience, I would suggest looking into the Aventon Soltera. The Sinch ST has a high handlebar placement, so it doesn’t feel like riding a normal bike. Standing up and peddling on the Sinch feels abnormal because of the stance.Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through allow you to use the throttle in PAS 0?
No, you cannot use the throttle when on Peddle Assist mode 0. I hate when ebikes don’t allow you to use the throttle when in peddle assist mode 0. Sometimes I like to manually peddle an ebike and only use the throttle when trying to start from being completely stopped or when riding up hills. The Aventon Sinch ST does not allow you to use throttle only when in PAS 0. I am always confused why some ebikes allow you to throttle in PAS 0 and some ebikes do not.
Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through come with fenders?
The Aventon Sinch ST does not come with fenders. You can purchase fenders from Aventon, but I think the Sinch ST should come with standard with them. Fat tire ebikes are made to be ridden on dirt paths and taken off road. Without fenders, if the trails are wet, your back can end up a muddy mess.
What water resistance rating is on the Aventon Sinch Step Through?
The Aventon Sinch ST has an IPX4 water resistance rating. IPX4 means the bike is protected from splashing water, no matter the direction. You do not want to ride the Aventon Sinch ST in heavy rain. Most dealers do not cover water damage to PEVS, even when there is a high IP rating. Click here for the current pricing on the Aventon Sinch Step Through. Click here for the current pricing on the Aventon Sinch. What is the suspension travel on the Aventon Sinch?
I don’t know exactly how much suspension travel is on the Aventon ST, but it is not much. The front suspension on the Aventon Sinch ST is easy to bottom out and not designed for heavy off-roading. The suspension is designed to make the ride more comfortable. It will dampen the chatter on trails and rough roads, but don’t plan on doing any extreme riding with the Sinch.
Does the Aventon Sinch Step Through have lights?
The Aventon Sinch has no taillight or headlight. I was surprised there was no light. This is the first Aventon bike Jimmy and I have reviewed that didn’t come with a light. I love the built-in frame lights on the Aventon Aventure and Soltera. You can always buy third party lights on Amazon that attach to the handlebars.
Who is the Aventon Sinch Step Through perfect for?
The Aventon Sinch ST is perfect for people with mobility issues. You can easily step through the bike and stand comfortably. If you are living the van or RV life, the compact foldable design of the Sinch ST is perfect for people on the go. If you are limited on space in your garage or apartment, the Aventon Sinch ST folded has a small footprint. If you want to get into ebikes but don’t want to buy a rack or trailer, the folded up Sinch ST will fit into large trunks and small SUVS. If you want a foldable ebike, but don’t want to settle for lower quality, you should keep the Aventon Sinch ST in mind.Aventon Sinch Step Through Discount Codes, Coupon Codes, and Pricing
