Written Review

The Gotrax F3 is bringing back what a lot of people have been asking for: an affordable fat-tire, foldable e-bike. Many of the recently released fat-tire e-bikes have 20" x 3" tires, but the Gotrax F3 has true 20" x 4" fat tires. The extra inch is noticeable, especially when riding through rough or sandy terrain.

The Gotrax F3 also comes with a bunch of free accessories, such as a bike bag, water bottle holder conversion kit, phone mount, rearview mirrors, and a bike lock. In total, about $150 of accessories! Keep reading for our FULL review of the Gotrax F3 specs / features, what we liked and didn't like, and who we think should get this bike.

Things We Love

Paint Job: The Gotrax F3 has a nice paint job, with a greenish-gold tone that contrasts with the black of the fenders, tires, seat post and suspension forks.

Speed: Gotrax states that this bike goes 25 mph, but we actually got it up to 28.7 mph. It's always nice to see manufacturers overdeliver on important stats such as top speed.

Cable Management: The cables are nicely organized on the Gotrax F3, which is definitely something you want to see on an e-bike of any price. It's extremely inconvenient to have cables and wires dangling everywhere if you are trying to fold up or transport the bike.

Seat: The F3 has a nice cushy seat, which is perfect for longer rides.

Rear Rack: We like that the rear rack is built into the frame, rather than an attachable extension. 55 lbs is also a substantial weight limit, meaning you can strap large and heavy items to the rack and have no problems transporting them.

Battery: Most e-bikes come with a 10Ah battery, or somewhere in that range. The Gotrax F3 has a 14Ah battery, giving you an extra 40% range for longer rides.

Quick Disconnects: The Gotrax F3 has "quick disconnects" for both the front and rear motors, meaning that tire changes are much easier and don't require messing around with cables while working on the wheel or tire.

Things We Don't Like

Front Light: Unfortunately the F3 has a pretty terrible front light - we wouldn't trust it for extended night riding.

Key System: The battery is locked into the frame with a key, but this means that there is always going to be a key dangling on the underside of the bike when you are riding.

Loud Motor: The rear hub motor makes a surprising amount of noise when riding hard. If you're looking for a stealthy e-bike, the Gotrax F3 isn't it.

Shipping: The unit we received had a bent fender and a good deal of paint scuffing, suggesting that the scooter wasn't packaged as well as it could have been.

Suspension: Coil suspension is decently effective on fat-tire e-bikes, but hydraulic suspension would be a nice premium feature, especially for a bike at this price point.

The Freshly Charged Take

If you were a fan of the Lectric XP 1.0 and you haven't been able to get your hands on one for 3 years, the Gotrax F3 is essentially the same bike, but with improved components and a better design. If you're looking for a true fat-tire budget friendly foldable e-bike, this is the bike for you.
