The InMotion RS Jet brings 72V dual motor performance to the most accessible price point the Freshly Charged team has seen in the electric scooter market, and field testing confirmed it over-delivers on InMotion's own stated top speed with runs approaching 54 mph. The sine wave controllers, touchscreen display, and app-based security system all punch above the price, while the criticisms, primarily the awkward suspension adjustment process, front-only turn signals, and a loose steering damper bolt on Andrew's unit, are real but fixable. For riders who want genuine hyper scooter performance without the premium tier tax, the RS Jet is worth. checking out.

Written Review
The hyper scooter category has a floor, and until now it has sat well above $2,000 for anything running a 72V system with meaningful dual motor output. The InMotion RS Jet is making a run at that floor with a competitive price tag to pair. Andrew took it to the high desert of Utah for a full field test across street riding, speed runs, light off-road trails, and a suspension deep dive, and came back with a mostly positive verdict. For most of what a 72V scooter buyer wants, this InMotion model delivers.

Build and Specification Walkthrough
At 90 pounds, the RS Jet is a substantial machine. Power comes from dual 1,200W hub motors with a combined peak output of 4600W, fed by a 72V 25Ah battery totaling 1800Wh. Two 72V sine wave controllers handle power delivery at 40 amps each. Both axles run 11-inch CST tires with adjustable rebound suspension, two-piston Star Union hydraulic brakes, and 160mm brake discs. IPX6 water resistance is rated for heavy rain, and UL certification had been submitted at time of testing with results pending.

The center of the cockpit is dominated by a touchscreen display, something the team has not encountered on any other electric scooter to date. It reads clearly in direct sunlight and responds reliably even through touch-sensitive gloves. A Bluetooth app pairs to the display for additional settings and, notably, remote lock and unlock: nobody rides the RS Jet without the owner's phone nearby. On both sides of the bar, handlebar-mounted turn signals auto-cancel after a set interval. A USB-C charge port sits up top. The folding mechanism is genuinely unique: a lift-and-slide collar system that locks the stem securely with no detected flex even under hard riding. Cable management is clean, with a wrapped routing style Andrew preferred over the mesh approach common on competing scooters.

Suspension is adjustable for both height and rebound front and rear. The scooter ships with a guide on the deck showing small, medium, and large height settings, and Andrew confirmed the tuning range is meaningful: lower and slower for street speed runs, taller and faster for off-road absorption.
Speed Testing
Andrew ran top speed testing in St. George, Utah using both Dragy and Strava for verification. The Dragy unit experienced data-saving failures during the session, but live readings showed 54 mph before the data was lost. Strava confirmed 53.1 mph independently. The description notes list approximately 54 mph as the verified figure, and Andrew observed the display touching 55 mph on his best run. InMotion's stated top speed is 50 mph, and the RS Jet exceeded it in field conditions, which Andrew noted approvingly as under-promising and over-delivering. Importantly, at 50% battery the scooter still ran to 53 mph with no top speed throttling as the pack depleted, a meaningful advantage over competing machines that bleed performance as battery level drops.
The sine wave controllers deserve specific credit. Acceleration is smooth and immediate with no dead zone on the thumb throttle, a baseline requirement Andrew considers non-negotiable that too many manufacturers still miss.
Off-Road Reality Check
The RS Jet's adjustable suspension height creates a reasonable expectation of off-road versatility. The tires do not support that expectation. Andrew tested light packed dirt trails and found the CST street tires washing out on loose gravel, maintaining control only through experience. His position is direct: the suspension tuning range suggests an off-road-capable machine, but the stock tires make that capability inaccessible for most riders. Anyone buying the RS Jet with off-road intentions should plan to swap tires before the first trail ride. For street-only buyers, this is a non-issue.
What the Team Loved
The front light is bright and angle-adjustable, handling both trail riding and urban streets without blinding pedestrians. The motorcycle-grade horn is appropriate for a scooter that cruises at 50 mph. The snapback charge port cover with an additional waterproof layer is one of the more thorough weatherproofing implementations the team has seen. The app-based lock system is a genuine security feature rather than a cosmetic one. Braking was consistently strong throughout testing with zero stopping issues reported.

What Needs Work
The suspension height adjustment process is the most frustrating functional issue on the RS Jet. Rear adjustment is awkward because the cover opens in a direction that blocks full Allen key rotation. Front adjustment is harder still: cable routing blocks access until those cables are physically moved aside first. InMotion provides an Allen key in the box; what the job actually needs is a low-profile ratchet kit that most riders will not own. This is an engineering gap on a scooter that specifically markets suspension adjustability as a headline feature.

The Star Union brake lever bolts are soft metal and strip under normal tightening torque. Andrew stripped several during setup. InMotion should address this with Star Union directly.

The folding mechanism locks the stem securely when the scooter is rideable but does not lock in the folded position. A 90-pound scooter that swings freely when carried is a genuine portability problem. Getting it into a vehicle or up stairs requires managing dead weight that wants to unfold mid-lift.

Turn signals are front only. At 50 mph on public roads, drivers behind the scooter have no signal indication. The rear tail light doubles as a brake light, which is correct, but the absence of rear turn signals is a safety gap that should not exist at this price point (and at these top speeds).

The charger runs at approximately 2.7A, producing roughly a 10-hour full charge cycle from empty. For a battery this size, a faster charger should be standard or at minimum available as an official accessory.
The deck will feel cramped to taller or larger riders. The kick plate taper is aggressive enough that foot positioning on longer rides becomes uncomfortable. Handlebar height reads tall when the scooter is on the ground but sits lower than ideal for taller riders once standing on the deck.

One quality control note: Andrew's unit arrived with the steering damper bolt nearly completely loose, which created significant instability until identified and tightened. Inexperienced riders would likely blame the scooter's handling rather than trace it to a loose bolt. This is a pre-delivery check that should not reach the customer.
The Freshly Charged Verdict
The InMotion RS Jet is the most affordable 72V electric scooter the Freshly Charged team has reviewed, and it earns its place in the market. Verified top speed exceeds the claimed figure, acceleration is smooth, braking is strong, the touchscreen display is a genuine first in the category, and the suspension tuning range adds real versatility for street riders. The criticisms are real: the suspension adjustment process needs better access and better tooling, the folded position needs a lock, the stock tires undersell the suspension's capability, and the unit Andrew received required a safety fix before the first ride. None of those issues change what the RS Jet does at speed on a good road. For buyers who want 72V performance without the premium tier price, this is a great starting point.
