At $1,199, the WORX Landroid Vision Cloud two-wheel drive version makes a strong case for being the most capable budget robot mower the Freshly Charged team has tested. Andrew and Jimmy put it through two weeks of real-world use and came away impressed by two things that have historically let this category down at this price point: auto mapping that actually works and edge trimming that reliably cuts down the manual follow-up work. It is not perfect, but for a flat or moderately complex yard where all-wheel drive is not a requirement, the value for your money is hard to argue with.

Most robot mower reviews on this channel involve machines that cost well over a thousand dollars, have subpar auto mapping, and still manage to leave a wide strip of uncut grass around every edge. The WORX Landroid Vision Cloud (2WD, 0.25 acre) is trying to change that, maintaining feature quality while remaining on the more accessible end of the market at $1,199. After two weeks of real-world testing, Andrew came away calling it the best budget-friendly robot mower Freshly Charged has ever tested. That is a claim worth unpacking carefully, so keep reading for the full breakdown on what held up, and what did not.

Hardware Walkthrough

The Landroid Vision Cloud does not have a dedicated carrying handle, which was an immediate annoyance. The cleanest grab point is the rear, and it will get your hands dirty. There is also no front bumper, singling itself out as the only mower we've ever tested without one. Neither issue affects mowing performance, but both are deviations from market norms.

Navigation runs on RTK Cloud positioning combined with VSLAM technology. The RTK component uses 4G satellite positioning without requiring any external antenna or station to be installed, which means the charging dock can be placed essentially anywhere in the yard that has Wi-Fi access. Jimmy's setup uses solar power to run the dock, though a standard outlet works equally well. What the cloud-based positioning eliminates is the frustrating compromise most RTK mowers force on placement: too close to the house and the structure blocks signal, too far and there is no practical power source.

VSLAM serves as the fallback system. If satellite connection drops, the front-facing cameras build a 3D rendering of the yard from recognized landmarks and the mower continues operating without interruption. Andrew confirmed this behavior from his 4WD testing and saw no reason to doubt it holds on this version.

The cutting system is a single disc with three blades; paired with a separate Cut-to-Zero system with two blades and three adjustable height settings. The battery is hot-swappable and compatible with over 200 WORX power tools across their lawn, garden, and general power tool lineup. Recharging from empty takes 35 to 40 minutes. Security features include PIN activation, a lift alert, an 18-foot geofence push notification, and 4G tracking for seven days after battery removal, all included free for the lifetime of the mower (yay for no extra subscription fees).

Auto Mapping: The Feature That Surprised Most

In recent years, both Andrew and Jimmy have tested more robot mowers than most. Auto mapping has consistently been the category's weakest link across every brand and price tier, with even the most high performing models falling short. The Landroid Vision Cloud is the first mower — even at a budget-friendly price — to produce an auto map our team would actually choose over the manual route. Jimmy's backyard provided a favorable test environment with clear borders and minimal obstructions, and he acknowledges that a more complex yard would present a harder test. But within those conditions, the initial auto map was good enough to use immediately, and the Smart Edge and Smart Trim AI learning system expanded the boundaries progressively over time. The initial pass stayed 6 to 7 inches from the walls, which looked like a problem. Over the following two weeks, the map grew outward on its own, tightening up the edges without any manual intervention.

The mower also completed about 50% of the yard before needing to recharge on the first auto-mapping pass. That is a genuine pacing limitation given the smaller battery, but the hot-swap capability provides a workaround for anyone willing to keep a spare battery on hand.

Cut-to-Zero Edge Trimming

This is the headline feature. The Cut-to-Zero system adds a dedicated trimming blade on the rear right of the mower that extends the cutting reach closer to edges than the main disc alone can manage. In two weeks of testing, it reduced the post-mow trimming job from cleaning up a six to seven inch swath around the entire perimeter to a single light pass over a narrow strip in most areas. In some spots along natural grass borders, Andrew found no trimming was needed at all.

The Cut-to-Zero blade height is adjustable across three settings, and Andrew prefers the tapered setting that angles slightly downward toward the edge, mimicking the result of hand trimming. The mower also exhibits a distinctive behavior when it encounters taller grass near edges: it performs a small pivot motion, shifting the Cut-to-Zero blade into contact with the taller grass before continuing. Andrew has not seen this on any other robot mower and it is an interesting functional differentiator.

Two Weeks Later

Coming home from vacation to an overgrown lawn might be a familiar frustration, but Jimmy was pleased to return from his to a lawn that had been maintained his entire time away without any manual intervention. The checkerboard pattern had developed cleanly in the backyard. The clippings mulched back into the ground throughout, which Jimmy credits with helping the lawn retain moisture amidst drought conditions and water restrictions.

The one consistent visual note over two weeks is that the single disc produces narrower lawn stripes than dual-disc mowers. Whether that matters is entirely a personal preference, and the cut quality is clean regardless of stripe width.

What Needs to Improve

The app is simple and intuitive, which is a strength...but that simplicity comes with gaps. There is no multi-user account support, meaning Andrew cannot add Jimmy as a secondary user to manage the mower independently. Active tasks cannot be cancelled mid-run: if a mowing cycle is underway and Andrew wants to redirect it, he has to wait for the current task to finish before sending a new command. However, both feel like firmware fixes rather than hardware limitations, and Andrew expects WORX will address them over time.

The mower also follows a consistent return path to the charging station on every cycle, which is gradually wearing a visible track in the grass. A variable return routing option in the app would distribute that wear more evenly across the turf.

Lastly, concrete step-up edges were the one terrain type that caused occasional issues. The mower got stuck a few times climbing that type of transition while attempting to return to the dock, which Andrew attributes to wet conditions from rain or sprinklers reducing traction. It is not a consistent failure, but worth mentioning for yards with raised concrete borders, particularly where the dock is placed.

The Freshly Charged Verdict

At $1,199, the WORX Landroid Vision Cloud two-wheel drive version offers auto mapping that works, edge trimming that significantly reduces labor, cloud RTK positioning with no external hardware to install, and a security and tracking package that would likely cost extra on competing products. For a flat or moderately complex yard where AWD is not an absolute necessity, this budget mower should definitely make your short list.
