We ‘ve recently had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time with the InMotion V12S, an electric unicycle that aims to carve out a space in the market by emphasizing technology and ride comfort. InMotion has equipped this model with a host of modern features, including a prominent touchscreen and adjustable suspension, all housed within a distinctly futuristic design. This review covers our experience with the V12S, from its initial setup to its performance on varied terrain.

First Impressions and Design
Out of the box, the V12S presents a clean, assembled unit. The most striking feature is its large, 4.3-inch touchscreen display. It’s a notable departure from the more minimalist interfaces on other EUCs, offering clear, direct access to speed, battery status, mileage, and various settings without needing to rely solely on a companion app.
The overall aesthetic is modern and angular, with a metallic alloy shell that contributes to its solid feel. It seems designed to appeal to those who appreciate a more technological and polished look in their personal vehicles.

Key Features and Technology
The V12S is defined by its extensive feature set. InMotion has integrated several noteworthy technologies:
- Safety and Durability: The unit is UL Certified and carries an IPX6 water resistance rating for the body (IP67 for the battery), which provides a degree of confidence when riding in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
- Connectivity: The inclusion of 4G allows for InMotion’s “Ride Connect” service, enabling remote tracking and device management through their app.
- Integrated Audio: The V12S comes with dual stereo speakers. While a novel feature, its practical application may vary from rider to rider.
- Adjustable Suspension: One of the most significant features is the adjustable hydraulic suspension. The ability to modify the rebound offers a level of customization that directly impacts ride quality.
- Lighting: The wheel is equipped with comprehensive, customizable lighting, including a prominent front headlight and wraparound RGB light bars.

Performance and Ride Quality
The core of the experience is how the V12S performs. The adjustable suspension is a standout, effectively dampening vibrations and smoothing out bumps from uneven pavement and light trails. This feature contributes substantially to overall ride comfort.
The 2500W motor delivers responsive acceleration, feeling quite capable for a wheel in its voltage class. InMotion states a top speed of 43.5 mph, and while I approached these speeds in a controlled setting, it’s the confident acceleration and cruising comfort that are more relevant for daily use. The battery provides a functional range, which I estimate to be around 40-50 miles for an average-sized rider in real-world conditions, making it suitable for most commutes and recreational rides.

Noteworthy Drawbacks
No product is without its compromises, and the V12S has a few points to consider:
- Side Panel Integrity: The metal side panels exhibit some flex under pressure, particularly when gripping the wheel tightly with your legs. While it didn’t cause any functional issues during my testing, it’s a point of interest in its construction.
- High-Speed Braking: During very hard braking from higher speeds, I observed some minor instability. This is not uncommon in EUCs, but it’s something for a prospective rider to be aware of.
- Suspension Adjustment: Adjusting the suspension requires a tool for the caps, which is somewhat inconvenient for on-the-fly changes.

Conclusion and Target Rider
The InMotion V12S establishes itself as a strong contender in the mid-range category, distinguishing itself with a heavy emphasis on technology, comfort, and a polished user interface. It is a feature-laden machine that delivers a comfortable and refined ride.
This electric unicycle is best suited for:
- Riders who value integrated technology and a user-friendly interface like the built-in touchscreen.
- Commuters and recreational riders who prioritize a comfortable, suspension-smoothed ride over raw top speed or maximum range.
- Individuals drawn to a modern, technologically advanced aesthetic.
It may be less ideal for:
- Performance riders who demand the highest possible speeds or the longest possible range for marathon journeys.
- Those seeking a more minimalist or budget-oriented electric unicycle.
In summary, the InMotion V12S is a well-executed and feature-rich option. It successfully blends comfort and technology, offering a compelling package for a significant portion of the EUC market.
