Should I use a tire sealant?
Flat tires are inconvenient, time consuming, and can be costly.
Imagine riding your electric scooter, Onewheel, or electric unicycle in a remote or unfamiliar area or on your way to a meeting or work but getting stranded because of a flat tire. At least with bicycles, you can fairly easily swap out tubes and keep going.
The complexity of our electric rideable devices makes on the go tire or tube swaps an impossibility. That is why many choose to use tire sealants to prevent flat tires from happening.
There are many tire sealants on the market, the most popular being Slime. Bicyclists are familiar with this green product and Onewheel riders have been using it since the beginning as all Onewheels are shipped with Slime preinstalled.
Armor Dilloz History
Armor Dilloz is a military grade tire sealant made by PEV riders for PEV riders.
Cory Boehne is the guy behind Armor Dilloz. Cory loves riding his Onewheel and he’s so confident in his tire sealant product that was willing to puncture the tire on his Onewheel repeatedly to show the tire sealing abilities of his product.
Cory lives in Miami Florida where he rides year round putting thousands of miles on his Onewheel. If you’re familiar with Miami, the streets can be dirty causing flat tires. So Cory developed a solution and he calls it Armor Dilloz.
Armor Dilloz is Military strength tire sealant that comes in several formulations.
Armor Dilloz now offers four lines of product:
- RED: Red offers the best sealing protection but is effective only up to 30 mph. This is recommended for the Onewheel.
- BLUE: is designed for tires that will be rotating at very high speeds such as e-scooters, and high speed electric unicycles that will be going over 30 mph. Blue contains longer fibers and more flow agent, meaning it can be used at higher speeds and deals with thin inner tubes better while offering a smiliar level of protection as the Red.
- GREEN: Green is the all around solution that basically works on anything and everything at an affordable price, while still providing protection that is far better than anything else you can buy on a shelf
- BLACK: Black is super flow, and can be used in lower quantities, making it both less expensive and lighter weight when installed.
Armor Dilloz boasts being the best sealant in the world. It can seal up to ½” puncture defects.
Because Cory was tired of time consuming and expensive tire changes, and calling ubers to get a ride home, he set out to find the world’s best tire sealant.
After much experimentation with every brand and type of tire sealant, Cory found a few common things that worked well, but no single sealant had the correct mix of all the right factors for e-devices.
So Cory was compelled to make his own ultimate tire sealant. That’s how Armor-Dilloz was born.
Cory offered his first batch to some close friends and other riders.
A month went by and people started noticing how well the tire sealant was working. They wanted more. Now celebrating their first year in business, Armor Dilloz is known by many riders across the Onewheel, E-Scooter, and EUC world.
The Science of Armor Dilloz
Tube or tubeless tire… Armor Dilloz can do it all.
Armor Dilloz uses a mix of long fiber kevlar, as well as aramid pulp – which, under magnification, looks like tiny feathers. When you get a puncture, those long fibers form a net which catches the feather like aramid pulp as well as the various sizes of rubber particles, forming an instant patch that is forced into the puncture, sealing it from the inside out.
(Fig. 1. Aramid Pulp – greatly magnified)
(Fig. 2 – Long strand Kevlar Fibers)
Armor Dilloz has so many fibers and particles that it needs special flow agents to make sure the sealant keeps fluid while inside the tire, and doesn’t ball up inside the tire.
Picture a perfect light coat of the substance throughout the inner wall of your tire or tube with a small excess freely moving that keeps you protected even after dozens of punctures.
How to use Armor Dilloz Tire Sealant
Armor Dilloz can seal most everything it encounters. It can be used on new tire installations as well as on existing tires.
½” hole in a Onewheel tire is about the practical limit and with tube tires Armor Dilloz can seal ¼” size holes or so.

- Snip off tip of Armor Dilloz Bottle
- Gently squeeze contents into tire. Half bottle for low weight protection and full bottle for best protection.

- If repairing a flat tire: inflate tire to +10 PSI over your normal riding pressure (except where this may exceed max tire pressure rating). Then deflate tire to riding pressure.
My Experience with Armor Dilloz Tire Sealant
I will admit. I get a lot of packages and this product sat in my office for a while because I had never installed a tire sealant before and the thought of messing with my tire intimidated me.
Armor Dilloz is very easy to install and I was able to do it on my Onewheel XR, my KingSong 16S, and my Gotway Tesla all in about 30 minutes for the 3 wheels and that included messing around with the camera gear and getting the right angles to make a video.
The Onewheel comes with slime already installed. While I’ve never had a flat, I’ve had plenty of people contact me via social media asking me about flat tire solutions on the Onewheel so I know that slime is not a perfect solution.
While Slime is less expensive than Armor Dilloz, e-riders will find Armor Dilloz more attractive knowing that it was specifically designed with their needs in mind.
My EUC’s do not come with any tire sealant preinstalled. Therefore, I used the Red version which has the best sealing abilities on my KingSong 16S EUC which never goes faster than 25 mph. I also used the Red on the Onewheel XR.
For my Gotway Nikola which is my go to wheel, I’m putting in the Blue which has similar sealing protection as the Red but is designed for wheels that travel speeds higher than 30 mph. While I rarely, if ever ride that fast, I’m going with the blue just because I can.
The Armor Dilloz Flaws:
The product is more expensive than others on the market but you get what you pay for.
Riding with the sealant never caused my wheels to feel unbalanced or unsteady so I have no other issues or flaws with Armor Dilloz to report. In the winter I’ll report back if I had any problems with the sealant freezing and causing instability. If anything changes, I’ll update my article.
