Sure you’ve enjoyed your Ninebot Max, but you just tried out your friend’s Apollo Pro and you can’t take your mind off it. You’re itching for an upgrade of your own. You want something fast (40 mph+), that can take you further (30 miles+), and you’ve got a couple grand ready to drop on your newest purchase. Which scooter should you choose?
There are some pretty formidable contenders in the mid-level scooter market, and the six we will compare today are the Nami Klima, Mantis King GT, Wolf Warrior X GT, VSETT 10+R, Segway GT1, and Segway GT2. Let’s do a side-by-side spec check:

With the possible exception of the Segway GT series, the Nami Klima boasts the best overall build quality of anything in the mid-level scooter range. Plush suspension, zippy acceleration, this scooter has it all. We have to get pretty picky to find things we don’t like about it. The dead zone in the thumb throttle, for instance, doesn’t seem all that bad once you realize how punchy the rest of the throttle is. We love the Klima, and it certainly deserves a spot among the contenders for this title.

Mantis King GT
The Mantis King GT is one of Kaabo’s newer models, but it doesn’t quite measure up to the Klima in that “futuristic” quality. It beats the Klima on both range and price, however, and together with the Klima leads the six scooters on this list with dual adjustable suspension.

Wolf Warrior X GT
While indisputably the range champion of the pack: the Wolf Warrior impresses in other categories as well. It’s among the lower-priced models, and has a long deck, loud horn, and of course the legendary Kaabo front light. Its acceleration is surprisingly slow, given the 2200W of power. All things considered, this is a great scooter that fits neatly within the ranks of the best mid-level scooters.

VSETT 10+R
The R in its name stands for “racing”, and VSETT 10+R 50 mph top speed cements it as the fastest scooter among these six. It also has the largest battery (tied with the X GT), and despite all that, it is $9 cheaper than the Klima. Build quality isn’t quite as top-notch, though, and we’d love a louder horn. I personally have had issues with stem wobble at high-speeds, so I wouldn’t want to max out the 50 mph top speed too often.

Segway GT1
Segway, the king of super build quality and premium features, doesn’t fail to disappoint with either “Superscooter”, the GT1 & GT2. The GT1 is by far the most affordable on this list, especially with the massive price drop a few weeks ago ($2799 to $1499). The GT1 doesn’t excel in speed or range, and has both the weakest motor and the smallest battery of the six scooters compared in this article. We love the 11” tires, huge rider load, and the smattering of premium features available through the Segway app, and the beautiful display.

Segway GT2
If price weren’t a factor, this scooter would probably win. However, $2799 is quite a bit to pay for a supposedly “mid-level” scooter. It’s got solid power and range, and where it really shines is acceleration, beating all five other scooters to the 30 mph mark, in just 4.1 seconds. It shares the amazing features of the GT1, and if you have the cash to pay for it, it’s a nice fit into any scooter enthusiast’s lineup.

The Winner
I personally am going to hand the win to the VSETT 10+R. Speed and range are the two biggest deciders when it comes to a scooter I want in my collection, and it’s hard to pack a scooter with enough features to make up for a lack in either of those two categories.
Honorable mention: Bluetran Lightning
Minimotors has a couple offshoot brands, and one of them is called Bluetran. While they only have one model so far (the Lightning), we are on the lookout for new releases. The Bluetran Lightning is pretty impressive, especially when compared to the contenders on our “best mid-level scooter” list. It’s currently on sale for $1999, packs a 72V 26 Ah battery (32 Ah and 35Ah options are also available), and will hit 50 mph if given enough road. That’s almost double Segway GT2's speed per dollar.
