Motorcycle Aesthetics:
At first glance, The Volcon Brat looks just like a motorcycle. I love the clean look of the bike and I can see it becoming very popular among motorcycle enthusiasts who are looking to purchase an ebike.
Hybrid Off-Road Tires:
The 20″ by 4″ hybrid off-road tires provide excellent traction and stability, allowing you to confidently navigate various terrains, from smooth pavement to dirt trails. The center strip is smooth while the edges have knobbys to grip when turning in loose gravel.
Impressive Throttle Speeds:
I love that I can hit throttle speeds of up to 31 mph on the Brat. If I was lighter than 220 lbs, I think I would hit an even higher speed. A lot of ebikes cap you out at 20 mph with throttle only.
Full Suspension:
The full suspension system offers a comfortable and smooth ride by absorbing shocks and bumps along the way, ensuring that your off-road escapades remain enjoyable.
Hydraulic Disc Brakes:
Safety is a top priority, and the hydraulic disc brakes provide strong and reliable stopping power, giving you peace of mind during your rides. The hydraulic brakes paired with the hybrid off-road tires provide excellent stopping power.
Battery Warranty:
Volcon’s two-year warranty on the battery demonstrates their confidence in the product’s durability and reliability. Most batteries that have faulty cells go bad at the 1-year mark, so I love that Volcon warranties it for two years.
Practical Features:
The integrated center console is a handy addition for storing items, and the easy-to-read display is a great feature for sunny rides. The thick and plush handlebar grips and motorcycle-grade horn add to the overall riding comfort and safety.
There is even a USB charge port in the console to charge your cell phone. The console also has a hole to run a cable from the USB charge port to the handlebars for a phone mount or under the frame for LED lights.
Integrated Lighting:
The integrated tail light and brake light enhance visibility, making it safer to ride in various lighting conditions. The light can easily be seen in direct sunlight and it looks clean being built into the frame.
Water-Resistance Rating:
With an IP54 water resistance rating, the Volcon Brat can handle splashes and light rain, extending your riding opportunities.
Easy Assembly:
Setting up your Volcon Brat is a breeze, allowing you to hit the trails sooner. Simply install the stem with four bolts, check the tire pressure, and you are good to go.
Chain Guard and Slap Guard:
The chain guard helps prevent clothing from getting caught up in the chain and makes sure they remain grease-free. The slap guard to protect the frame is made from rubber which we have never seen before. Most slap guards are made from a neoprene sleeve or a clear piece of vinyl.

What I hate about the Volcon Brat:
- Fenders are worthless
- The battery is not integrated into the frame
- Center consoler isn’t secure
- I would like an option to change the stem height on the black version
- I would like a taller seat or the option to purchase one
- The center console shows fingerprints easily
- I wish the spread on the front light was a little taller
- The rear suspension is stiff
- Needs better cable management
Inadequate Fenders:
Some users find the fenders to be less effective, potentially leading to unwanted splashes and dirt accumulation.
Battery Integration:
The battery is not integrated into the frame, which affects the bike’s aesthetics. I like the look of the tubular frame so I understand why they went with an exterior-mounted battery. However, I think they could have added to the motorcycle look by making the battery cover look like a motor.
Center Console Security:
The center console works well for storing items while riding the bike. However, the rear part can easily be popped out so your items will not be secure when the bike is locked to a bike rack.
Limited Stem Height Options:
Taller riders may wish for more flexibility in adjusting the stem height, especially for the black bike model. The stem on the black version is 1.5″ shorter than the one on the blue version. I would have liked the option to choose my stem height instead of having to buy an additional stem.
Seat Height:
I am 6 feet tall and would have preferred for the seat to be a little taller. I feel a little cramped up while riding the Volcon Brat and a taller seat would help alleviate that. It would be nice if Volcon had the option to purchase one separately for added comfort.
Fingerprint Magnet:
The center console’s tendency to show fingerprints easily can be a minor aesthetic drawback.
Narrow Front Light Spread:
The front light looks sweet and matches the aesthetics of the bike. However, the throw of the light is a little narrow. It has a good wide spread but the height of the beam could be improved.
Stiff Rear Suspension:
The rear suspension is a little too stiff. You can adjust the preload on the coil suspension but ours was already on the softest preload setting. You could always swap out the coil suspension but I think most riders would benefit from the stock one being a little softer.
Cable Management:
The small amount of cable wrap looks great, but they need more of it. Better cable management could enhance the bike’s overall tidiness and appearance.
