Aesthetics + Weight

Beginning with the build quality and aesthetics, we love how the components on this EUC come together to make a ruggedly beautiful wheel. It’s not as sleek as some other recent EUCs, but the black on stainless steel is quite nice. However, that aesthetic certainly comes at the cost of weight. At 107 pounds, this has a similar weight as the Begode ET Max, but lacks the top end speed of that wheel, and competitor Begode seems to already have altered their design choices to drop wheel weight on newer wheels like the forthcoming Begode Panther.

Speed

While the top speed might not match top offerings by other manufacturers, it’s by far the fastest wheel KingSong has ever produced, and fixes the biggest complaint from the S22, which just couldn’t keep up with its reported top speed of 43 mph. We haven’t been able to test the F22 yet, but runs in the high 50 mph range have been reported, and that’s about the limit most riders are looking for. At 176V, it’s the highest voltage EUC available to date, and exhibits incredible torque.

Innovative Suspension

The real innovation of this wheel is in its suspension. The KingSong F22 Pro features a quad suspension system, with four individual stanchion tubes, each containing a DNM 100mm shock. The system provides options for damping and preload. In theory, this will provide the ultimate comfort and also be extremely customizable. However, there is a significant worry in regards to the ability of the individual suspension tubes maintaining the same settings, and the potential for them to become uncoordinated.

This is further accentuated in the event of a crash or other damage to the tubes, as the entire system can fail from one tube, and a major crash necessitating replacement of all four could be prohibitively expensive. While we don’t want to base our opinion of this wheel on the worst possible scenario, it’s something worth considering, particularly if you’re a trail rider or somebody who puts your wheel through heavy use.

Premium Features

In terms of bells and whistles, the KingSong F22 Pro might be the best EUC. Integrated Apple Find My connectivity is a welcome addition, allowing you to track and find your wheel anywhere and prevent theft. The F22 is capable of 20 amp charging, but even more welcome is the 10 amp charging that comes stock—the fastest stock charging we’ve ever seen by a significant margin. KingSong promises that using the stock charger, the F22 can charge 50% of its battery in under an hour.

The KingSong F22 Pro also includes staples like kickstand, mudguard, trolley handle, headlight, taillight, and has an option for dual rear speakers. USB-A and USB-C ports are also stock on this wheel. The lift handles are quite usable, but seem to protrude slightly and are reportedly quite sharp, making them possibly undesirable, particularly for racing or other instances of hard turning.

The Freshly Charged Take

Overall, we really like what we see in the F22 Pro, with several big caveats. The performance is admirable, and we hope the F22 doesn’t have any of the S22s early firmware issues. The suspension seems to be high quality and we look forward to seeing how it holds up in the real world. The weight of this wheel is a little unfortunate considering the strides other EUC manufacturers are making in that regard, and we hope that the 107 pounds and lift handles don’t detract from the ride feel. The F22 Pro is quite promising, and we hope to try it ourselves in the near future.
