by Nathan Schaumann

We’ve reviewed numerous Lectric Bikes, such as the XP 3.0 and the XP Lite, but this is the first time we’ve got our hands on the Lectric XP Lite 2.0! It has nice new features such as a color display, puncture-resistant tires, and the most powerful 300W motor we’ve ever tested. Read on for our full list of specs and features, as well as what we liked and didn’t like about the bike.

Things We Love

Ride Quality: The Lectric XP Lite 2.0 is lightweight, nimble, and has great ride quality. It feels like a BMX bike, and is enjoyable to rip around. The BMX-style handlebar grips fit nicely underneath your hands and contribute to excellent handling.

Color Display: The new color display looks gorgeous, and they’ve finally gotten rid of the black-and-white display that made the bike feel stuck in the 80s. The new display is easy to read in direct sunlight, even with polarized sunglasses.

Brakes: The hydraulic brakes work really well, and when combined with the soft compound of the Chao Yang tires, this bike has excellent braking ability.

Power: Although the motor specification of 300W doesn’t seem impressive, Lectric must have put an extremely high-output controller into this bike, because the power delivery is fantastic. The bike has no issues with hills, or getting up to its 20 mph top speed.

Pedals: We love that Lectric didn’t skimp on the pedals – they are both metal and foldable, two things we look for in e-bike pedals.

Slime: Lectric is one of the few companies we know of that pre-installs slime inside of the inner-tubes, greatly reducing the chances of a flat.

Foldable: The Lectric XP Lite 2.0 is not only foldable, but it’s EASY to fold and even easier to carry once its folded. This is great for people who live in an apartment and need to take it up stairs, or load it into the back of an SUV.

Colors: The bike comes in multiple color options, including a beautiful lavender shade.

Customer Service: Lectric is well known for their Phoenix-based customer service, and for the fact that all employees must know how to take a bike apart and put it back together.

Things We Hate

Front Light: Although the light looks large, it is not very bright, and wholly insufficient for night-time riding. We’d recommend buying an accessory handlebar-mounted light for proper illumination and a wider throw angle.

Rear Light: While there technically is a rear light, it doesn’t act as a brake light, and instead only turns on when you turn on the front light. It would be great to see Lectric figure out and start adding proper brake lights to their bikes.

Speed: We wish this bike could go faster than 20 mph. Even with the relatively small 300W motor, this bike feels like it wants to go faster, so it would be nice for there to be an easy way to remove the speed limiter.

Cable: If the front light wasn’t dim enough, it is partially obscured by the massive cable running down the front of the bike. This seems like sloppy engineering.

The Freshly Charged Take

The Lectric XP Lite 2.0 is hands down the best bike you can get at $799 or lower. Lectric has continuously impressed us with their quality and affordability combination, and the Lite 2.0 is no exception. Nearly every competitor in this price range lacks features that are included in the XP Lite 2.0, such as the metal pedals, vibrant color options, color display, or pre-slimed tires. We couldn’t recommend this bike enough.
