How the VSETT Electric Scooter Brand was Created
The ZERO Dealers across Europe, Asia, and USA met together in June of 2019 at the ZERO factory to work on a new generation of ZERO. They worked on CAD designs trying to address the weaknesses of the first generation of ZERO scooters. The new line was originally supposed to be released in Spring of 2020 but was put on hold so they could continue to improve on the design.
During that time frame, ZERO motorcycles pursued the ZERO scooter line because of the name. The newly designed scooters were supposed to be a new ZERO line, but was rebranded to the VSETT. Finally the fruits of all their labors has come to fruition with the VSETT line.
The VSETT line has some really sweet unique features and we are excited to see them first hand in a few weeks. We will break down the whole lineup so you can figure out what VSETT is best for you.
The VSETT is now on preorder through REV Rides to be delivered in 6-8 weeks. To see the whole lineup and prices click here. Save an extra $50 with coupon: gotscooter

What is on Every VSETT Electric Scooter
- Charge ports on top of deck
- LG Batteries
- NFC card reader to unlock scooter
- Turn signal indicators
- Updated QS-S4 throttle to prevent magnet failure
- Adjustable suspension
- Rear foot rest
- IP44 water resistance rating
The Charge Ports on Top of the VSETT Deck has Created a Ton of Controversy
I have seen a ton of chatter about the VSETT putting the charge ports on the top of the scooter instead of on the side or underneath. A lot of people are pissed saying it doesn’t make sense because it will hold water when it rains while the distributors are saying its design is to prevent water from getting in the charge port.
But who is correct, the scooter community or the distributors? I think the distributors are pretty smart to put it on top to prevent water damage in the charge port. The reason being is that those rubber covers always fall off the side or bottom, simply because of wear, gravity and vibrations
I was filming with Jimmy the other day and the charge port cover would not stay on the CURRUS Panther. Once the cover has been used a few times, it starts to wear down and is not as tight around the charge port. Throw in some vibrations from riding and gravity always pulling down on objects, the charge port cover will inevitably fall off.
The charge port is the most vulnerable to water damage and can cause a short in the system if water creates an electrical arc. By having the charge port on top, the cover should not have as many issues of falling off because gravity is holding it in place. However, it does make it easy to kick off the covers and if left open while riding it may collect dust and debris and during wet riding condition it may collect water.
The key to prevent water damage in the charge port is to make sure it’s covered tightly while riding, especially in a rain storm.

All of the VSETT Scooters have LG Batteries
I’m happy to see that the whole VSETT line being carried by REV Rides will use LG batteries except for lower amp hour version of the 8. Most of the time Chinese batteries will work fine but they have a much higher failure rate than LG batteries. If one battery cell goes bad in a scooter, it impacts the range greatly and it will need to be replaced.
Luckily, if a battery does fail it is typically early in the life of the battery and most of the VSETT dealers have great warranties.
Wireless NFC Card Reader to Unlock Scooter for Theft Protection
Instead of a key, the VSETT uses a wireless NFC card reader to unlock the scooter. Just hit the power button on the display, hover the NFC card over the reader, and you are ready for takeoff. The NFC card reader is a sweet step in the future.
However, you should still secure your scooter with a lock when leaving it unattended. Even though thieves cannot turn on the scooter, they can easily wheel or carry it away.

All of the VSETT Scooters have Turn Signal Indicators
I have seen turn signals on other scooters like the EMOVE Cruiser, but they are typically not that great for visibility. The turn signals are normally not bright and too low. I will be interested to see if the turn signals on the VSETT work well in person, or if they are just a novelty item.
The Updated QS-S4 Throttle Display is Supposed to Have a Lower Failure Rate
The previous QS-S4 display used to have magnet issues all the time. The magnet that controlled the throttle would unglue and fall out. If the magnet was put in incorrectly upside down, it could be catastrophic where the throttle got stuck on at full speed.
REV Rides 3D prints a solution to keep the magnet in place on the previous QS-S4 display on the ZERO line of scooters. It is nice to see they have enclosed the magnet to try and prevent throttle failure.

All the VSETT has Adjustable Suspension
Every single scooter in the VSETT line has some type of adjustable suspension. The 11+ only has rear adjustable suspension. All the other versions of the VSETT besides the 11+ have adjustable front and rear suspension. There isn’t tons of adjustment, but you can adjust it to your preference.

Rear Footrest on all the VSETT Scooters
All models of the VSETT scooters have a rear foot rest. I think all scooters need it because it is good to apply weight towards the rear of the scooter for stability and safety. A rear foot also helps for making the ride a lot more comfortable.

What is the VSETT Electric Scooter IP rating?
The VSETT scooters have a IP44 rating. A product that has a rating of IP44 means that it is protected against solid objects that are bigger than 1mm and water splashing from all directions. We rode the VSETT scooters through some pretty wet conditions and never ran into issues.
However, you should always tread lightly when using a scooter around water. If you have any body damage it can cause water to enter the housing of the battery and controller. We do not know of any distributors that warranty scooters for water damage.
VSETT 8 E-Scooter Specs and Features
The VSETT 8 is the entry level and budget friendly scooter for the VSETT line. It is a single motor commuter made to go up to 25 mph and get about 25 miles of real usage range. It has an adjustable rear shock and solid rear tire to prevent flats.
The VSETT 8 offers an adjustable handlebar height, collapsible handlebars and locking folding mechanism. REV Rides will carry two battery versions of the 8 at first. The two versions will be the 15.6 amp hour version with Chinese batteries and the other will be the 21 amp hour version with LG batteries.
With the electric braking, rear drum brake and solid rear tire, it will help to keep maintenance down. It offers front and rear swing arm suspension which should be an improvement to the small spring suspension in the ZERO 8

VSETT 8+ E-Scooter Specs and Features
The VSETT 8+ is pretty much identical to the VSETT 8 but it has dual motors and two solid tires. It is designed to climb bigger hills, have a higher top speed, and never have flats compared to the VSETT 8.
REV Rides will not be carrying this so I am not sure what the specs will be for dealers outside of the US.

VSETT 9 E-Scooter Specs and Features
The VSETT 9 is their slightly bigger single motor scooter than the VSETT 8. It offers adjustable suspension and collapsible handlebars. It has a larger deck and also has the upgraded clamp that is similar to the ones you see on the Rion scooters.
When I saw clamp on the VSETT 9 and Rion in person, I actually liked the clamp on the VSETT 9, 9+ and 10+ better. The Rion clamp is strong but it just had a Velcro strap to secure it. The clamp on the VSETT scooters was just as strong as the Rion but it had two additional safety features.
It comes in a teal and black color which I’m sure my wife will like because she loves anything teal. It also locks into itself when folded. The hook used to lock it in place when folded, doubles up as a bag hook when the scooter is unfolded.

VSETT 9+ E-Scooter Specs and Features
The VSETT 9+ is very similar to the 9 but it has dual motors instead of a single motor. It comes in the exact color as the 9. When I first looked at the VSETT line, I thought I was going to be most impressed with the 10+, but the 9+ is what surprised me the most.
The VSETT 9+ is a dual 650 watt motor scooter, so I didn’t think much of it when looking at it on a spec sheet. However, once I got a chance to ride the 9+, I was blown away by how fast and zippy the scooter is. I thought the 10+ was going to take off leaving the 9+ in the dust, but surprisingly it was able to keep up.
I normally gravitate towards the high powered scooters but I could see myself using the 9+ as a daily driver. It was fast but lightweight. (lightweight to me but to some it would be heavy at 62 lbs) I learned how to bunny hop the 9+ and you’re able to get a ton of air even on flat ground.

VSETT 10 E-Scooter Specs and Features
I don’t think very many dealers will be carrying the 10. It is a high powered single motor scooter and I am finding that most of the dealers are only carrying the 10+
VSETT 10+ E-Scooter Specs and Features
The VSETT 10+ is a dual 1400 w motor beast. It comes in yellow and black, and is supposed to be a step above the ZERO 10X. I have seen people refer to it looking like the Bumblebee Transformer.
The VSETT 10+ has hydraulic Nutt brakes which I prefer over Zoom brakes. It offers 10 inch tires that are 3 inches wide. It offers the strong clamp that looks like the one on the RION scooters.
It does have a sport mode button that can only activate for 2 minutes and then take a 10 minute break. I have heard people complain about this feature but I think it is a good way to prevent controller damage from overheating.
I love that the VSETT 10+ locks into itself when folded, because the ZERO 10X does not making it hard for portability. The hook that is used to lock the scooter together also doubles up as a hook for a bag or your helmet when running into a store.
It has a IP44 waterproof resistant rating. Even though the scooter has a water resistant rating, none of the distributors will warranty water damage. The 10+ deck is larger than the 10X, so it should be very large.
I saw a ton of photos and videos marketing the VSETT 10+ with EXA Form 290 shocks. Unfortunately after riding the final prototype, I found they do not have the EXA Form 290 shock. I was hoping they would have the EXA Form 290 shocks because they are more comfortable.
The good news is that the shocks are a traditional size so that it is easy to buy and install a replacement.

VSETT 11 E-Scooter Specs and Features
I have yet to see any distributors that are carrying the VSETT 11. It is the single motor version of the 11+. If distributors start carrying it, I will update this post.
VSETT 11+ E-Scooter Specs and Features
Whenever I see the VSETT 11+, I automatically think of Captain America. Some people have voiced their disgust for the colors on the VSETT 11+, but I love the look. I imagine getting dressed up in a Captain America costume and riding the scooter around on Halloween.
Well enough about costumes, you probably came for the specs. The VSETT 11+ is the flagship scooter to the VSETT line. It has a gigantic headlight that looks like it came off of motorcyle.
The VSETT 11+ boasts dual 1500 watt motors but still a 60V battery. I do wish they would have created this with a 72V battery but I bet they will release a 72V version in the future. It does offer dual stems which is always nice for stability.
The 11+ has 11 inch tires that are 4 inches wide. It has a sport mode like the 10+ that only lasts for 2 minutes and shuts off for 10 minutes. It’s the largest scooter of the VSETT line.
I wish the 11+ had the upgraded clamp we are seeing on the 9+ and 10+. Instead, we are seeing the same type of clamp used in the ZERO 11X. Not sure why they didn’t use the innovative clamp but I would love to see it on future renditions.

How do all the VSETTs Measure up to Each Other?

VSETT Electric Scooter First Look of 2021
