Extreme Bull Commander GT – Just Right, But Too Late?

by Nathan Schaumann

The Extreme Bull Commander GT is a unicycle available from Extreme Bull, aiming to compete directly with the Begode Master V4. Interestingly though, this wheel was announced back in 2023 with vastly different specs. So what is this wheel made of, and is it still relevant in 2025? This is the story of the Extreme Bull Commander GT.

Commander GT – Backstory

When the Begode Master came out in 2022, there was a distinct shift in the EUC world towards suspension EUCs with medium sized batteries. Extreme Bull’s first direct competitor to the Master was the Commander Mini, with 2400Wh and a 3200W motor. They later produced the Commander Pro, which is still a fantastic wheel today. The Commander GT was first announced around August 2023 with a 134V 2400Wh battery pack and 50e cells, and it looked like a revamp of the much loved Commander Mini, with increased motor power.

Seeing community reactions, the 50E cells were changed to 50S cells in the weeks following the announcement to match industry standard. But just two months later in November 2023, Extreme Bull announced the Commander GT Pro, with the upgraded specs of 168V and a 3000Wh 50s battery pack, and the Commander GT suddenly looked much less appealing. The GT Pro was simply much more capable for only 10lb more, and while early versions of the Begode Master had its problems, many riders appreciated its modularity and upgradability, and so development of the Commander GT was sidelined for a time.

Jumping to the beginning of 2024, Begode released the Master V4, upgrading perhaps their best wheel with 50s batteries, the highly requested metal battery boxes, and upgrading the number of controller mosfets from 24 to 36. Most importantly, they finally gave us the suspension linkage upgrade. This led to EUC dealers selling off their old stock of V2 and V3 Masters, and the V4 garnered significant hype, selling quite well. With 2400Wh suspension EUCs at the forefront of everyone’s minds, it was the perfect time to turn back to the Commander GT. However, it was late to the party. By the time the Commander GT was commercially available later in 2024, the hype was already over. The Begode ET Max and Veteran Lynx were taking the EUC world by storm, and people buying a new wheel expected something with more battery and higher operating voltage—and once again the Extreme Bull Commander GT Pro outshone the GT.

The Current Commander GT

In 2025, you can now purchase the Extreme Bull Commander GT from a number of EUC dealers. In appearance, it features the Commander Mini’s CNC guard rails and handles, which are available in several colors, and it has striking red and blue LEDs around the edges. The hydraulic dual-piston suspension is the same style as the Commander Pro, albeit with 80mm suspension travel, and it works admirably. It took the 3500W motor from the Commander Pro to achieve more power than the Commander Mini, and matches the torque of the Master V4. The 2400Wh battery is a size we’re comfortable with at this point, but it’s not outstanding.

The Freshly Charged Take

The Extreme Bull Commander GT presents itself straightforwardly—it is exactly what it purports to be. There aren’t many bells and whistles, and the performance is about what you’d expect based on the spec sheet. Unfortunately, those specs just happen to be about a year behind the industry standard. This doesn’t mean the Commander GT is a bad or outdated wheel—if anything we think it’s a safe sleeper wheel. The design is safe, tried and tested, and in its context is a fantastic EUC of the 2400Wh generation.

If the Extreme Bull Commander GT had been released on schedule in late 2023, it may have been one of the most acclaimed wheels at the time. As it is, we’d rather go with the GT Pro.
