Who is the Segway GT3 Pro for?
The Segway GT3 Pro is built for riders who want more than just a way to get across town. This scooter is for people who like speed, want a refined ride, and appreciate premium build quality with thoughtful technology. If you’ve looked at entry-level scooters and thought, “That looks fun, but I want something serious,” the GT3 Pro is Segway’s answer.
It’s not designed for hopping curbs, tackling trails, or folding into a tiny trunk. Instead, it’s a street machine with stability at 50 mph, a cockpit that feels more motorcycle than scooter, and tech features that rival what you’d find in an electric car.

Segway GT3 Pro Quick Specs (In Plain English)

Top Speed: 50 mph (we hit 49 mph in testing)
➤ One of the fastest production scooters from a mainstream brand. Faster than you’ll ever need for city streets.
Motors: Dual hub motors, 7,000W peak
➤ Acceleration is quick and controlled. 0–30 mph in under 4 seconds feels thrilling but not twitchy.
Battery: 72V, 30Ah (2160Wh)
➤ Range up to 86 miles if you’re creeping along in ECO mode. Realistically, expect 30–50 miles depending on speed.
Weight: 117 lbs
➤ Solid, planted, but not portable. This is a garage scooter, not a subway scooter.
Tires: 11” self-healing tubeless
➤ Excellent grip, rounded profile for smooth carving, and built-in puncture protection gel.
Brakes: Dual hydraulic discs
➤ Strong, confidence-inspiring stops. We measured 20–0 mph in just 12 feet.
Suspension: Hydraulic front and rear
➤ Keeps the scooter stable even on rougher asphalt. Not an off-road setup, but fantastic for city streets.
Water Rating: IPX6
➤ Safe in heavy rain, but don’t go river crossing.
Will the Segway GT3 Pro fit you?

Segway recommends riders between 5’3” and 6’6”, with a max weight of 330 lbs. That covers most adults comfortably. The deck is long and wide, with a raised kickplate at the rear for bracing under acceleration.
The scooter folds, but it’s still huge and very heavy once folded. Don’t expect to haul it up a flight of stairs. Think of it like a small motorcycle in terms of size and practicality.
How fast does the Segway GT3 Pro accelerate?

This scooter feels like a rocket strapped to a steel beam! It’s fast, but incredibly stable. We tested it with GPS and consistently hit 49 mph, which is just shy of Segway’s 50 mph claim.
Acceleration is one of the things that Segway has been nailing recently, especially if you’ve hopped on a Segway Xyber. It has that Tesla/direct drive feel, and we find the same thing on the GT3 Pro. In our acceleration tests, we hit the following times on our fastest run.
- 0-10 MPH – 1.39s
- 0-20 MPH – 2.63s
- 0-30 MPH – 4.25s
- 0-40 MPH – 6.46s
- 0-49 MPH – 10.06s
Our slowest run of the day took us 14.91s to hit 49MPH, but even that felt pretty darn fast!
Braking is excellent, thanks to hydraulic discs and grippy tires. Stopping distances are short, and the tires carve into turns confidently. Compared to other high-speed scooters, the GT3 Pro feels controlled rather than wild, making it approachable for someone upgrading to their first “super scooter.”
What is it like to own the Segway GT3 Pro?

This is where the GT3 Pro separates itself from the pack. Segway packed it with tech that most competitors don’t offer:
- Segway app control: Lock/unlock, customize regen braking, set charging limits, and schedule charging for off-peak hours.
- Apple Find My: Built-in theft protection if you’re an iPhone user. (Android users will want a third-party GPS solution.)
- Premium cockpit: Bright TFT screen with turn-by-turn navigation, easy-to-reach controls, and clean cable management.
- Safety features: Motorcycle-grade horn and pedestrian bell, high-mounted turn signals, and UL-certified battery for fire safety.
- Smart charging: You can set it to stop charging at 80% to extend battery life, or automatically cut off after a set time to avoid overnight worries.

Editor’s Note: One thing that doesn’t come across in the video is just how solid this scooter feels. No rattles, no sketchy welds, and excellent finish quality. Segway clearly put effort into making this look and feel premium.
There are downsides. The scooter is extremely heavy, the rear suspension requires a special tool to adjust, and there’s noticeable “vampire drain” (the battery slowly discharges when unused), all of which we’d expect for a scooter that has the specs and speed of the GT3 Pro.

Is the Segway GT3 Pro worth the price?

At $2,699, this scooter costs more than many of the electric bikes we review. You can find faster scooters for less money, but they often lack refinement. What you’re really buying here is Segway’s polish: safe battery design, premium finish, smart app features, and a ride feel that inspires confidence at high speeds. The ride stability at 40MPH is a HUGE differentiator between the GT3 Pro and some of the cheaper fast scooters we’ve tested.
If you’re after raw numbers, there are 60+ mph scooters in this price range. But if you want a 50 mph scooter that feels stable, safe, and thoughtfully designed, the GT3 Pro justifies its premium price.
Final Verdict: Should you buy the Segway GT3 Pro?

Buy this if:
✅ You want one of the safest and most polished 50 mph scooters available
✅ You value build quality, tech features, and thoughtful design
✅ You prefer controlled acceleration over wild, wheel-spinning launches (though you can spin those wheels here if you want!)
Skip this if:
❌ You need a lightweight or highly portable scooter
❌ You want to push beyond 50 mph for adrenaline’s sake
❌ You don’t care about extras like app control or safety certifications
Bottom line: The Segway GT3 Pro is less about being the absolute fastest scooter, and more about being the best 50 mph scooter you can buy right now. If you want premium safety, cutting-edge tech, and a scooter that feels as stable at 40 mph as others do at 20, this is the one to beat.
