The original Aventon Pace was popular because of its capability, reliability, value, power, and comfort.

What features does the color display on the Aventon Pace offer?
Aventon used to use a black and white display that was used by many other ebike companies. When Aventon released the Aventure, they came out with their own color display that offers a lot of neat features.
I was pleased to find the Pace and Soltera are outfitted with the same great color display found on the Aventure.
Some features I like about the display is that it shows you calories burned, kilograms of CO2 emissions saved, and how many trees saved during your ride. It’s a fun way to track your ride progress.
The display is easily controlled with the buttons on the left side of the handlebar.
The Aventon Pace mobile app
The color display on the Aventon Pace is Bluetooth enabled, so you can connect your phone to the Pace via an app. One of my favorite features of the app is that it gives you the opportunity to track your rides.
The app stores your current and previous rides, giving details of your average speed, top speed, distance traveled, CO2 emissions saved, and calories burnt.
You can also use the app to motivate you against other Aventon riders. There is a section in the app for cycling rank. The cycling rank will show you how you rank against other Aventon riders for the day, week, month, and total.
There is a discover tab in the app that allows you to share pictures and post with other Aventon riders. The app even allows you to find local Aventon dealers for repairs.
Aventon is looking to capitalize on the popularity of social bike competitive apps and programs such as Peloton and Strava.
Integrated battery on the 2022 Aventon Pace
The brand new Aventon Pace has the battery built into the frame and is easily removable.
The Pace was already Aventon’s best selling ebike, but you could immediately tell it was an ebike when you looked at it for the first time. The battery stuck out of the frame from the older model, giving it a pregnant battery look.
The 2022 Aventon Pace looks like a regular bicycle, since the battery is built into the frame. I can tell it’s an ebike because I have reviewed so many bikes. However, I would think consumers will question whether it’s a regular bike or ebike.
What colors does the Aventon Pace 500 come in?
The Aventon Pace 500 comes in four colors Midnight Black, Ghost White, Celeste, SoCal Sand. As soon as I saw the Celeste color, I knew my wife was going to love the bike. She is a sucker for anything teal or what I like to call sea foam color.
I like that Aventon always offers bikes in multiple colors. It allows their riders to express themselves by choosing the color they like.
The Aventon Pace 500 Has a Premium Feel and Construction
Jimmy and I have reviewed numerous ebikes, and most have terrible weld marks. Most ebikes have weld marks that are large and bulky, and simply painted over. Aventon grinds down their weld marks to make the frame look flawless.
Aventon also does a great job with cable management. The cable wrap is high quality, adding to the sleekness of the bike. I love the cable wrap on the Aventon Pace, where I hate the cable wrap on the Lectric XP 2.0.
It is these fine details that really help Aventon stand out from their competitors.
A paint job to be proud of!
On top of having seamless weld marks, Aventon has mastered their paint jobs. The paint finish on the Aventon Pace is absolutely stunning. I love how they use other colors of the Pace bikes in their lineup to accent the bike.
What type of brakes are on 2022 Aventon Pace 500?
The Aventon Pace 500 features Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm brake discs.
The brakes are powerful, and the levers can easily be pressed with one finger. I prefer Tektro hydraulic brakes over other brands like Zoom. With 180mm brake disc, you have a big surface to ensure great stopping power.
We have only seen Tektro hydraulic brakes on the Aventon Pace, Ride1Up 700 Series, Ariel Rider Grizzly and Bikonit MD 750.
Aventon Pace brake lights look sharp!
The Aventon Pace and Soltera are the most amazing brake lights I have ever witnessed on an ebike. The Pace has brake lights integrated into the frame, making them seamless and beautiful.
When you have the lights on, the rear taillight is always on and gets brighter when braking.
Aventon listened to feedback because a lot of people complained about the Aventure only having one brake light integrated into one side of the frame. The Pace has two brake lights, one for each side of the frame.
What’s the top speed on the Aventon Pace 500?
The top speed on the 2022 Aventon Pace 500 is 28 mph in PAS 5.
The bike is locked into a class 2 ebike, but you can unlock it to a class 3 ebike with the app. The max speed you can reach with the throttle is 20mph.
I prefer a class 3 ebike over a class 2 ebike. The extra 8mph makes a huge difference to me. 20mph is just a little too slow for my liking.

What I hate about the 2022 Aventon Pace
- No suspension
- No throttle in PAS 0
- Easy to see smudges on frame
- No pedal assist memory when turning off and on
- Battery doesn’t have that satisfying click to let you know it’s secured.
- No fenders
Does the Aventon Pace 500 have suspension?
The Aventon Pave 500 does not have suspension. The bike is designed to be an upright cruiser, but a seatpost suspension would make the ride a lot more comfortable. You can buy a seatpost suspension off Amazon, but it would be nice if it came stock on the bike.
Beautiful paint job that can be hard to keep clean
Jimmy and I received the Midnight Black version of the Aventon Pace. The shiny black paint job is gorgeous, but you can easily see smudges in the sunlight. I do find black cars are hard to keep clean. The Celeste color is much easier to hide dirt and smudges.
Does the Aventon Pace remember what pedal assist level you were at when you turn it back on?
One obnoxious feature of the Aventon ebikes is that it will always reset back to 0 pedal assist when turning the ebike off and on. The display will remember your last trip distance, but it will not remember your pedal assist level.
It is easy to turn up the speed settings, but I wish the bike would remember what pedal assist I last left the bike on.
How do I know if I properly installed the battery on the 2022 Aventon Pace?
Unfortunately, you do not get a satisfying click sound when you secure the battery onto the 2022 Aventon Pace.
You want to make sure you press in the battery firmly against the frame of the Aventon Pace to secure it. I would pull up on the battery to ensure it is secured, so you don’t run into it popping out when riding.
This is the first built-in battery on an ebike that I have encountered that does not make a clicking noise.
Does the Aventon Pace allow you to use the throttle in PAS 0?
No, you cannot use the throttle when on Pedal Assist mode 0.
I hate when ebikes don’t allow you to use the throttle when in pedal assist mode 0. Sometimes I like to manually pedal an ebike and only use the throttle when completely stopped or riding up hills.
The Aventon Pace does not allow you to use throttle only when in PAS 0. I am always confused why some ebikes allow you to throttle in PAS 0 and some ebikes do not.
Does the Aventon Pace come with fenders?
The Aventon Pace does not come with fenders.
You can purchase fenders from Aventon, but I think the Aventon Pace should come standard with them. At the price point of the Aventon Pace 500, you can get a Ride1Up 700 Series with a bigger motor and fenders. However, there is a lot more assembly required on the Ride1Up 700 Series.
Without fenders, if the trails are wet, your back can end up a muddy mess.
My Aventon Pace isn’t turning on, what’s wrong?
The Aventon Pace battery has a button that needs to be turned on in order for you to power up the bike. If you try to turn on the display without pressing down the button on the battery, you will get zero power to the bike.
It is the same thing we saw on the Aventon Aventure. I remember being so frustrated that I couldn’t get the Aventure to turn on because I had no idea about the button on the battery.
Simply press the power button on the battery, and then the power button will work on the display.

Who is the Aventon Pace 500 perfect for?
The Aventon Pace 500 is a great commuter choice ebike. If majority of your commute is smooth pavement or packed trails, the Aventon Pace 500 will excel on it.
If you like the latest tech, the color display with app connectivity on the Aventon ebikes is the best we have reviewed. There is no other ebike that Jimmy and I have reviewed that has an app besides the Segway X260. (Which isn’t really an eBike, more of an eDirtbike)
If you want a bike that looks ultra sleek, the integrated battery and lights on the Aventon Pace give it a refined look. The Aventon Pace is a perfect choice for someone who wants one of the best looking commuter ebikes!
