Velotric Nomad 2 E-Bike Review – Torque vs Cadence Sensor

Our detailed review of the Velotric Nomad 2 highlights its impressive UL-rated battery, high-quality components, and unique sensor swap feature for customizable ride feel. With a range of 65 miles, 750W motor, and 1000 lbs towing capacity, this stylish e-bike stands out—though its 72-lb weight makes it less maneuverable than lighter models.

Written Review

We have reviewed numerous Velotric bikes, such as the Fold 1, Summit 1, Discover 2, Packer 1, Go 1, and many more. We like Velotric for their consistent UL-rated batteries, good ergonomics and bike geometry, and their tendency to use higher quality components for brakes and paint finish. Things We Like

Sensor Swap: This is a neat addition that we don't see often on e-bikes, at any price point. Velotric's sensor swap feature allows you to manually toggle between a torque sensor and a cadence sensor. The cadence sensor gives you all of the e-bike's power instantly as soon as you move the pedals, and the torque sensor provides a smoother, more intuitive ride-assist feel.

Aesthetics: This bike is beautiful from head to toe, which we have come to expect from Velotric bikes.

How much can the Velotric Nomad 2 Tow? Velotric advertises 1000 lbs of "towing capacity", which is not something you see often from an E-bike. A Mini Cooper, for comparison, tows up to 1500 lbs.

What is the water rating of the Velotric Nomad 2? The battery is rated up to IPX7, which is pretty much the highest rating you can get for a battery.

Things We Don't Like

Weight: At 72 lbs, it's not exactly light - the addition of carbon fiber or more aluminum components could shave off some weight and make it more maneuverable.
