VMAX have been hard at work on a new iteration of their VX2 series, and now the VMAX VX2 Extreme is here! The specific trim that we tested was called the VMAX VX2 Extreme GT (quite the mouthful), and it is an impressive feat of engineering. It features a new color display, a powerful hill-climbing motor, and some of the best hand grips we’ve ever seen. Keep reading for a full list of specs, as well as things we loved and didn’t like about the scooter.
We previously reviewed the VMAX VX2 base-model scooter here.

Things We Like
Display: We love that they swapped out the analog display for this beautiful TFT LCD display that can easily be seen in direct sunlight.
Hill Climbing: While 500W might not sound like much, the peak 1600W output of the motor means you can pop wheelies fairly easily, and hill climbing is no problem. When Dalton and Andrew took the VX2 around a mountain loop, Dalton had no issues maintaining 24 mph (1 mph short of the stated top speed) even up significant inclines.
Folding Mechanism: The VMAX VX2 Extreme has an extremely easy folding mechanism, and once folded the handlebars lock into the rear fender, making it easy to pick up while handling only the stem.
Handlebar Grips: Dalton called these the “best grips in the scooter world”. They are super comfortable and grippy, and have holes for your fingers.
Turning Signals + Cover: The turning signals are mounted high up on the end of each handlebar, and are surprisingly bright. There is a protective rubber piece that both covers the headlight, and softens the blow if the scooter falls on its side. The rear turning signals are also rubber, which decreases the likelihood of them snapping, and they are super bright and easily visible from behind.
Things We Don’t Like
Bumpy Ride: While the VMAX VX2 Extreme tires do a decent job of absorbing tiny bumps in the road, a suspension system would go a long way in increasing ride quality. The VX2 is pretty uncomfortable when riding a long distance, especially over uneven terrain.
Light: The front light is decently bright, but you can’t adjust the angle.
No Kick Plate: We like the oversized rear fender, but we wish there was a kick plate. Adding a kick plate would provide an extra place to put your feet when riding, especially uphill, or when accelerating.
