Yadea UFO S – The Future of Foldable E-bikes?

by Nathan Schaumann

Yadea is one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of electric bicycles and scooters in China, having been in business since 2001. The Yadea UFO S is the company’s latest model: a folding e-bike, unveiled at China Cycle 2024, a China International bike fair.

Last year we got the chance to review the motorcycle-style Yadea Trooper 01, but the UFO S is the first foldable e-bike we’ve reviewed from Yadea.

In this review, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about the Yadea UFO S, including its specs, features, pros and cons. We’ll also let you know who might benefit most from this innovative e-bike.

Yadea UFO S – Things We Love

Urban Portability: The compact, folding design makes the UFO S an excellent choice if you live in a busy city and need a means of transport you can easily store or take on public transport.

Ease of Use: The pedal-assist system and manageable weight make this bike convenient for different kinds of riders.

Regulatory Compliance: The speed limitation ensures the UFO S adheres to e-bike regulations in many regions, including the Asian and European markets.

Potential Affordability: Based on Yadea’s track record, the UFO S is likely to be priced competitively, making it an accessible option.

Yadea UFO S – Room For Improvement

Limited Range: Details on battery capacity are pending, but smaller e-bikes often have a shorter range compared to full-size models.

Modest Top Speed: While sufficient for navigating city traffic, the 25 km/h speed limit might not satisfy riders seeking a high-performance e-bike.

Smaller Wheels: The 14-inch wheels could make the ride feel slightly less stable on uneven surfaces compared to bikes with larger wheels.

The Freshly Charged Take

The Yadea UFO S appears to be a well-designed e-bike for city riders. If you’re looking for something portable, need a bike for brief city commutes and/or live in a region with e-bike speed restrictions, the UFO S could be just the bike for you.

If you need a higher-performance e-bike, Yadea has some more options, which you can check out on their website here.
