The Extreme Wheel ES electric dirt e-bike has been released, and we at Freshly Charged have put it through a real-world test. This new dirt bike comes from Extreme Wheel, a brand launched by Begode, a name already legendary in the electric unicycle (EUC) world. As a mid-tier electric dirt e-bike, it delivers insane power and features you rarely see at this price point. We conducted a full hands-on review, and while there was a bit of a surprise regarding the official specs, the performance was still quite impressive.

What Suspension Does the Extreme Wheel ES Have?
Our test unit had Fastace suspension, but the production model will come with DNM suspension with 200mm of travel. We liked the Fastace suspension, and we’re not super thrilled that they’re swapping it out for DNM on the production model. Most DNM forks we’ve tested feel soft and spongy, so hopefully they use a stiffer spring.
What Controls are on the Extreme Wheel ES?
The handlebars have motorcycle-grade four-piston hydraulic brake levers (good!), turning signals, a multi-mode front light, speed level buttons, and an electric horn. The front-facing light has some cool settings: white light, yellow light, a mix of both, and off. These are useful for fog, night riding, or mixed conditions.
What size are the tires?
The front tire is an 80/100 19-inches, and the rear is slightly smaller, at 90/90 18-inches. After testing, we determined that the off-road tires that come stock are weak point of the bike overall. On loose gravel and packed dirt they feel unstable, with relatively poor grip, as the rubber compound is too hard. We haven’t tested the street tires, but they might perform better.
What Are The Power Specs?
A 5,000W base motor (10,000W peak) powers the ES, with a 150A controller (230A max output). Extreme Wheel claims a 100V system (40Ah, 3600Wh). In reality, it’s a 100.8V peak, meaning an 88.8V nominal system. With a 40Ah battery, that’s 3,552Wh. We advocate for using nominal voltage, the industry standard. Notably, EUCs tend to use the peak voltage rating, as well as Onewheels. Scooters and E-bikes usually stick to nominal. It makes it all a bit confusing.
What Security and Connectivity Features Does the Extreme Wheel ES Have?
It has an NFC card reader, which means you have to keep track of the key, but adds security. There is also app connectivity allows setting adjustments (field weakening, modes) and firmware updates without. We thought the app was nice, and it saves the hassle of endlessly clicking through buttons on the bikes display itself.
How Fast is the Extreme Wheel ES Acceleration and Top Speed?
It hits 50 km/h (around 31 mph) very quickly. It has a TON of torque. We reached a top speed of 88 km/h (approx. 54 mph) in our tests with a 200+ lb rider.
Does the Extreme Wheel ES Have a Reverse Function?
Yes, which is a rare and welcome feature. By pressing the M button and twisting the throttle, it goes backwards! For a 160 lbs e-bike, this is incredibly convenient for maneuvering.
Is the Extreme Wheel ES Street Legal Ready?
Not straight out of the box, but stock turn signals and mirror mounts make it easier to get street-permitted where allowed.
Does it have Regen Braking?
Yes, and while it’s effective, we would like more customizability. Currently regen levels are affixed to the speed modes, but it would be nice to open up functionality through the app to allow you to set a particular regen setting, regardless of speed mode.

The Freshly Charged Take
The Extreme Wheel ES is an excellent electric dirt e-bike for its mid-tier price. Despite the spec discrepancy (due to nominal vs peak output metrics), the 3,552Wh and 88.8V system are competitive with the other dirt e-bikes we’ve tested. The reverse feature is a nice touch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time riding the bike.
