Competitors?
While there may be other e-bikes with better specs at lower prices, most of these bikes are offered by companies who manufacture and service their products in China and only have one or two warehouses in the US, complicating service and warranty concerns. Giant is a brand that can be trusted, with a wide network of dealers and service providers across the US.
There are also reputable, US-based companies offering competing mountain e-bikes such as the Lectric Xpeak, which we unboxed and reviewed a few months ago. However, the Giant Talon E+ is likely to perform much better on technical trails, as it is considerably lighter and features a more advanced suspension system.
The Freshly Charged Take
The Giant Talon E+ appears to be a high quality, well-built e-mountain bike at a reasonable price point. It features higher-end components such as mid-drive motor and hydraulic disc brakes, is manufactured by a reputable brand, and has solid motor power and battery life. We’d recommend this bike for intermediate mountain bike riders who want a bit of boost from an electric motor, and the peace of mind from a big brand name.
