While the ONYX LZR’s motor power is commendable, I experienced power surging issues in the highest pedal assist mode. In Pedal Assist 5, the power delivery may feel inconsistent, resulting in abrupt surges of power that can be unsettling.
This can affect the overall riding experience, especially when precise control is required. However, it’s worth noting that this issue is not prevalent in lower pedal assist modes. Overall, I would turn off the pedal assist when going downhill because you don’t need it.
Difficulty Starting on Steep Hills
Due to the ONYX LZR’s weight and the power delivery characteristics of its motor, getting started from a dead stop on steep hills can be challenging. The initial torque required to overcome the incline can strain the motor and demand more effort from the rider.
While the ebike eventually catches up and performs well on uphill sections, the initial struggle can be frustrating, especially for less experienced riders.
Heavier Than Traditional Dirt Jumpers
