After attending a Fliteschool at Bayfoils and Efoil Oahu, I can say from experience and recommend that everyone should take a professional class if they have any interest in Efoils.
My wife had zero board experience and was able to pick up how to eFoil in under 30 minutes. It was a fun, safe, professional, and unforgettable experience. Thanks to Fliteschools, I can now share my passion for efoiling with my wife!
When I first saw videos of people on those futuristic looking electric hydrofoils, or eFoiling for short, I was intrigued and mesmerized. I was perplexed by how someone could float two feet above the water on a flying surfboard.
I searched eFoiling on YouTube and noticed that most riders were experienced surfers and I wondered if Jimmy and I could do something like this.
Jimmy and I have zero surfing experience and we are middle-aged men in average shape. Could two middle-aged men with dad-bods figure out how to fly?
After attending a Fliteschool from Fliteboard, Jimmy and I were able to fly in under 30 minutes.
In this review, we will tell you why you should check out a Fliteschool near you.

- Surreal Experience
Try before you fly!
Efoiling is an expensive hobby but well worth it. I have tried over 100 PEVs and flying on a Fliteboard is by far my favorite experience. However, dropping $13,000+ on a brand-new Fliteboard without trying it out can be a tough pill to swallow.
By checking out a Fliteschool, you can take a lesson for a few hundred dollars and see if it makes sense for you to buy your own Efoil. The best part is most Fliteschools will apply the amount you paid for a class towards your purchase if you love it.
Fliteschools are located all across the world so you can attend a local one or learn how to eFoil while on vacation.

Fliteschool Professional Setup
Fliteschools utilize a product called Bb TALKIN’ waterproof headsets that are built into your helmet so your instructor can communicate with you from a distance while you are on the water.
My wife loved it and said it was amazing having a coach giving her instruction and encouragement. It can get hectic on the water so it helps a ton to be able to clearly hear your instructor when you’re not right next to them.
Fliteschools also provide helmets, lifejackets, and wetsuits to make sure you learn in a safe environment.
Most importantly, with Fliteschools, you get to ride safely with knowledgeable instructors who will get you riding quickly.
Fliteschool Set Curriculum
In order to offer Fliteschool services, the locations go through extra protocols to ensure they are teaching Fliteboard’s proper teaching curriculum. Fliteboard goes out to the locations to check them out and make sure to are nice and conducive for learning, especially for beginners.
The instructors will teach you how to operate the remote, get up on your knees, fly on your knees, and then fly standing up. Jimmy, JImmy’s sons, my wife, and I were all able to learn how to fly in under 30 minutes.
Without an instructor, I think it would have taken a few days to learn how to fly confidently.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Efoiling
You can cause a lot of damage to your eFoil if you don’t know what you are doing. I have seen people on Facebook forums take brand new eFoils out and damage them in the surf or while transporting them.
The experts at Fliteschools can teach you how to avoid the costly mistakes of eFoiling.
You want to make sure you know the depth of the water you are flying in to ensure you don’t hit coral or rocks. The last thing you want to do is destroy your expensive eFoil because you didn’t know what to look for.
There’s no other experience like flying on a Fliteboard
Jimmy and I have tested over 100 personal electric vehicles over the past year and the Fliteboard is by far my favorite PEV. The feeling of you flying over the water with just you and the board creates a surreal experience.
When you start out, the board will slap against the water. When the board lifts off the surface it becomes nearly silent. There is something peaceful about stealthily flying around the water on a Fliteboard.
Now, whenever I travel near bodies of water, all I can think of is how cool it would be to eFoil on it. One of my favorite things about a Fliteboard is the Flite network.
The board and motor come with carrying cases that you can travel with on an airplane as a check-in. The battery cannot go on an airplane but you can rent a battery from anyone in the Flite network. I love that I can travel with the Fliteboard and fly at their many locations where batteries are available for rent.
Final Thoughts
If you have ever wanted to try the surreal experience of Efoiling but the initial cost of buying a board is a major hurdle, you should definitely check out a Fliteschool.
A Fliteschool will allow you to try Efoiling for a few hundred dollars and you will learn how to fly faster. Having an instructor mic’d up and being able to tell you exactly what to do, makes the learning experience much more pleasurable. The faster you learn how the fly, the fewer bruises and falls you will have to deal with.
If you love eFoiling after you take a Fliteschool lesson, a lot of the Fliteschools will apply the price you paid for the lesson towards your purchase price if you later decide to buy an eFoil from the school. So it’s like getting a free lesson with your purchase.
