The State of EUC Manufacturers in 2025

by Nathan Schaumann

One of EUC riders’ favorite conversations (or often debates) is which of the EUC manufacturers is the best. In the past few years, this has been a conversation concerning Begode, Inmotion, KingSong, LeaperKim, and Extreme Bull, with each having positives and negatives. This conversation has mostly concerned the value systems of riders; is safety most important, like Inmotion says, performance, like Begode, or the overall quality and holistic experience, like LeaperKim? There are many considerations for what makes an EUC, but these are some of the main ones.

What Happened in 2024?

2024 saw a major shakeup in both the lineup of EUC manufacturers, as well as the focuses and product choices of the manufacturers. Nosfet burst onto the scene with their first EUC, the Nosfet Apex, in late 2024, with major talking points in their modular suspension design. Begode kept up their business strategy of releasing a new wheel in each tier of speed, but also improved their build quality significantly. KingSong and Inmotion, on the other hand, barely did anything in the EUC space this past year.

In this article we will discuss the state of EUC Manufacturers in 2025, including recent and projected wheel offerings, and what we hope to see going forward.

Begode – A Wheel for Every Rider

image 2

Begode, as always, impressed with the sheer number of EUCs they released in 2024. For some this is a disappointment, feeling that their EUC will quickly become obsolete if they purchase from Begode. However, Begode focuses their production on various speed tiers, aiming to produce wheels that can appeal to all riders, and not just highly specialized machines for the speed demon or the trail junkies. For example, the Begode Mten Mini fills the niche of the smallest wheel, good for beginners, children, or indoor fun for experienced riders. The lineup then moves through the Mten5, Falcon, T4 Max, Blitz, X-Way, ET Max, and Master Pro V3 at the largest and fastest.

The place where Begode has historically faltered is in its production quality. For years, Begode was known for having the best performance, but not offering the highest quality components or the safest ride. However, since the evolution of the Begode Master into the Master V4, Begode has showed that they are both capable of high quality wheels. The first Begode wheel of 2024, the ET Max, proved to be of exceptional quality. The ET Max included robust waterproofing which improved on the experimental Begode A2, a handle integrating into the seat, and high quality metals in the body and screws. The Blitz and X-Way continued this pattern, giving people everything they had asked for, and in high quality. The X-Way also introduced us to adjustable suspension with the turn of a screw. One huge innovation by Begode this year was using magnesium alloy and engineering plastic on their EUCs to cut weight significantly while still maintaining high structural integrity. If you want a racing wheel, Begode has it. If you want a trail wheel, Begode has it. If you want a commuting wheel, Begode has that too. Given its inclusive lineup of wheels, high build quality, continual innovation, and responsiveness to the community, 2024 has seen Begode cement itself as a top EUC manufacturer, and we look forward to more great wheels like the Begode Panther in 2025.

Leaperkim – Versatile, Long-Range Lineup

image 3

Perhaps the other contender for “most loved EUC manufacturer;” Leaperkim once again impressed in 2024 with their new wheels. Unlike Begode, Leaperkim follows a very different release strategy. Instead of a wide lineup, Leaperkim tends to focus on the development of one or two new wheels.

Leaperkim’s 2024 wheels were the instant fan favorites the Veteran Lynx and the Veteran Sherman L, as well as the refreshed Veteran Patton S, which now has an upgraded battery with 50s cells, a more capable board, and significantly lighter weight. This was a surprise from Leaperkim, as they have never previously updated their wheels. This represents a possible shift from Leaperkim to creating a more inclusive and wider lineup of wheels. The Sherman L is their first ultra long range wheel, with a 4000Wh battery. This wheel came as a surprise several months after the Lynx, but didn’t disappoint in the slightest.

Leaperkim has traditionally made longer range cruising wheels with a battery size of 3600Wh, and they have refined their firmware to extend the range of those wheels as much as possible. The Sherman L is one of the smoothest riding EUCs on the market with what feels like un-killable range and surprisingly low weight.

Out of Leaperkims 2024 offerings, the Veteran Lynx was certainly its flagship. At 2700Wh, the Lynx has the smallest battery of any Leaperkim wheel, but somehow keeps up with EUCs with batteries at 3000Wh due to its fantastic battery management. The Lynx is intended as a versatile all-rounder—it can cruise, it can race, and it can still hit trails and jumps. Leaperkim has always provided high quality wheels, and 2024 continued this trend with wheels that all felt as though they could be the only wheel a rider would need. This can be quite compelling, as EUCs are expensive, and Leaperkim wheels are among the highest priced EUCs.

The only weakness of Leaperkim seems to be their focus on large performance wheels, and so their midsize or commuter wheel selection is much smaller when compared to Begodes offerings. Overall, Leaperkim impressed again in 2024, producing even more wheels but maintaining the characteristic ride feel and versatility in those wheels.

Extreme Bull – Best Value EUC Manufacturer

image 4

Extreme Bull has always been a controversial EUC manufacturer. With undeniable ties to Begode, their products for years have often looked like Begode clones. For example, the Commander Mini, with a 2400Wh battery and weighing 80Ibs, felt like a refresh of the Begode Master, with added side panels. Some see this as a weakness—if Extreme Bull wheels are copies, then why not just buy the originals from Begode? However, Extreme Bull has kept itself in the conversation for “best EUC manufacturer” because although their wheels share many similarities with Begode wheels, they always package it in a way that fixes a problem from the Begode part. In the Commander Mini example, the addition of side panels and lift handles were a small but welcome change compared to the Begode Master, which had been difficult to put pads on and transport.

In 2024, the Commander Pro still reigned supreme in the Extreme Bull lineup as the dark horse of long range EUCs and reliability. At 3600Wh, the Commander Pro covers ground like few others, but does it in a nondescript and unassuming package and surprisingly low weight, and remained the EUC that made you question why you would need anything else. The Commander GT and Commander GT Pro took the success of the Commander Pro and adjusted the battery size and voltage for different use cases. The Extreme Bull Griffin was a surprise, looking like an Extreme Bull clone of the Leaperkim Lynx, and the upcoming Commander Max (while still unreleased at the time of writing) promises to be one of the best long range EUCs while keeping the classic compact package of Extreme Bull wheels.

With all these wheels, Extreme Bull has maintained its identity of being the undisputed best bang for the buck of all EUC manufacturers—their modular design strategy has proved quite cost efficient. Extreme Bull wheels, while not the flashiest or most popular, are among the most reliable, compete in performance with top wheels, and are probably the best purchase option for thrifty riders.

KingSong – Stuck in 2022

image 5

2024 was an odd year for KingSong. While other manufacturers made new and exciting wheels, we find ourselves at the beginning of 2025 still thinking about KingSong as the architect of the KingSong S22. This should be seen as both a success and a failure on KingSongs part. The S22 came out in 2022 and was an immediate hit, revolutionary in suspension EUCs, and is still being sold today with minor improvements over the original. Since then they have given us the S19 and the refreshed S16 Pro, and the announced F22 certainly looks intriguing. However, The S19 is an intermediate wheel with a top speed lower than the Begode T4 Max but is much more expensive, and the S16 Pro similarly compares to the Begode Falcon but also several hundred dollars more.

The selling point of these wheels? ORANGE. Yes, that’s right. Orange. KingSong looked at the Inmotion V13 and thought “this color is the truth.” Unfortunately, most EUC riders find the orange boring, if not outright gaudy, and prefer performance and good prices to the complexion of a popular fruit.

Overall, 2024 almost made us forget about KingSong, particularly when Begode and Leaperkim gave us so many amazing wheels to think about. We hope the KingSong F22 Pro will help KingSong in 2025 to reenter the conversation of top EUCs, and not just be remembered for the S22.

Inmotion – Strong Commuter and Beginner Offerings

image 7

In some ways, Inmotion has a similar story to KingSong. Inmotion has a wide range of products, beyond EUC’s, and so we expect their product development to be a bit slower. Like Leaperkim, Inmotion has traditionally developed one new flagship EUC each year, with this year’s model being the Inmotion V14. While the V14 is a good wheel in its own right, it lacks any particular wow factor, or reason to purchase it over similarly spec-ed EUCs from other manufacturers.

The V13 was a compelling EUC because it promised to be the EUC with the highest top speed, and still be able to maintain good safety margins, and also had a new suspension system. Even though the V13 was eventually plagued by quality and repairability concerns, it still represented a new effort for both top performance and top safety. As far as the V14, Inmotion reneged on its quest for speed, and it ended up feeling more like the V12 with suspension. In theory this is what people had asked for, but it ended up just not being very interesting, and showed that the one characteristic that EUC riders universally expect from a flagship EUC is top speed.

In addition to the V14, Inmotion gave us a refresh of the most successful EUC ever, the Inmotion V11, improving most of its specs and making it a compelling midrange wheel with average specs across the board to compete in the commuter category. We also got the Inmotion E20, a dual wheel EUC which makes us ask whether a dual wheel EUC is a contradiction. This wheel is advertised as the ultimate beginner wheel, since the side-by-side wheels make balancing easier for new riders. However, this deviation from the classic unicycle results in an EUC which doesn’t actually ride very similarly to anything else, so its value as an entry level EUC is questionable. Regardless, this innovation is appreciated, and its 240Wh battery is small enough that it lets people get their feet wet in the world of EUCS. Overall, 2024 was a touch and go year for Inmotion with some innovation, but we hope to see them return in 2025 with some more serious rideables.

Nosfet – The New Kid On The Block

image 8

Last on our list of EUC manufacturers is Nosfet, a new company which emerged in the second half of 2024. With founders Sen and Jack btoh experienced in the EUC community for over a decade as riders, designers, and involved in manufacturing, Nosfet has great potential to shake up the EUC community. With one EUC, the Nosfet Apex, released as of writing (and one more on the way, the Aero), they have a lot to prove. The Nosfet Apex competes with top EUCs with possible cruising speeds in the high 50mph range, the classic 14” rim, and a 151v 2700wh 50s battery pack. The big talking point on the Nosfet Apex, however, is the suspension.

Suspension has been revolutionary for EUC’s, and riders expect it on all EUCs now. Suspension is difficult to manufacture, since you have to account for the range of rider weight, different riding styles, and a range of terrain and use cases. We saw this problem with Begode first on the Begode Master, where riders complained that the suspension bottomed out far too easily when on trails and jumping, and Begode responded that they had designed the suspension for street riding—there was a disconnect between manufacturer and rider expectations. Since then, manufacturers have either tried to make their suspension comprehensive in use case coverage, or, like the Begode Extreme, catered the suspension to a very particular use case.

The Nosfet Apex throws this all out the window, and proposes a suspension system which can be easily adjusted without tools to one of 6 different positions. The highest suspension is perfect for extreme trail riding and jumping. If you then want to do some street riding or race, you can quickly lower the suspension to give yourself more control or a more comfortable ride. This suspension system has shown some weakness in dust ingress, but nevertheless represents a significant shift in EUC suspension towards a more modular design, where one EUC can cover all types of riding and do them all quite well.

In addition to the Nosfet Apex, Nosfet has announced the Nosfet Aero, a midrange EUC with a 1120Wh 126v battery on a 14” tire. We look forward to the innovations Nosfet will bring to the EUC world.
