Hooga Daytona – The Powerful Successor to Kaabo in Voro’s Lineup

by Nathan Schaumann

The Hooga Daytona is now officially available for presale on Voro Motors. While some info was released previously (and shared on our site), we now finally have the full specs, price, and a few official pictures. Let’s check it out.

Why has Voro Motors switched from Kaabo to Hooga?

The Hooga Daytona is Voro’s response to its shift away from selling Kaabo scooters. The Kaabo lineup (Wolf King series, Mantis series) was plagued with maintenance issues, and it seems Voro got tired of handling never-ending warranty claims. I myself am the current and previous owner of multiple Kaabo products, including the Mantis King GT, Wolf Warrior X Pro, Wolf Warrior 11, Wolf King, a pair of Wolf King GT‘s, and a pair of Wolf King GTR‘s. I have had mechanical and electrical issues with all of these scooters (which unfortunately is not out of the norm for high-powered electric scooters being ridden to their limits), especially the GTR, which is their newest and supposedly best product.

The main and most recurring issues that I faced with the Kaabo scooters was leaking hydraulic brake fluid that needed to be topped up monthly, as well as controller issues that meant power delivery was unreliable and at times spastic. Those two things are the first things I will check for as soon as I get the chance to ride/own a Hooga Daytona.

What are the Hooga Daytona Specs?

The Hooga Daytona is comparable to the Wolf King GT and GTR, but with a slightly bigger battery. Here is a rundown:

  • Voltage: 72V (same as Wolf King, Wolf King GT, Wolf King GTR)
  • Top Speed: 70 mph (manufacturer’s claim – I hit 67mph on my Wolf King GT so I’m guessing this is roughly accurate)
  • Brakes: Motorcycle-grade DOT brakes (this is confidence-inspiring considering my previous brake issues with Kaabo)
  • Range: 50 miles (manufacturer’s claim – my guess is if you’re riding 40mph+ consistently, you will get more like 35-40 miles of range)
  • Battery: 72V 40Ah 21700 LG Cells (larger than any Kaabo product)
  • Charge Time: 10 Hours – 1 Charger, 5 Hours – 2 Chargers (looks like no fast charger is included)
  • Controller: 72V 60A Roadster Controllers
  • Motor Wattage: 10Kw (this is just nuts, my strong suspicion is this is peak wattage, not nominal)
  • Max Rider Weight: 380 lbs
  • Item Weight: 152 lbs (this is extremely heavy, getting into the range of the Dualtron X Limited‘s 183 lbs)
  • Water Rating: IPX5 (wonderful to see a solid water rating on a hyperscooter)
  • Hill Climb Angle: 45 Degrees (expected from any hyperscooter)
  • Display: 3.5″ Color TFT Display (identical to Kaabo GT series)
  • Throttle: Reversed Downwards Finger
  • Tire Type: 13″ Tubeless w/ Self-Sealing Gel (larger than Wolf King GT 11″ or Wolf King GTR 12″)

What is the Range of the Hooga Daytona?

Scooter range is a tricky thing to measure, because it is so dependent on rider weight and riding conditions, including the ambient temperature, elevation gain, riding speed, e-braking settings, wind direction and speed, and battery health. My rule of thumb is that if I am riding a scooter on main roads and keeping up with traffic (40-45mph) I can expect to consume about 75Wh of battery per mile. So 72V * 40Ah = 2880Wh, divided by 75 = 38.4 miles. I feel this is a conservative estimate for light rider like myself (150 lbs with gear included), and the number can be adjusted downwards for heavier riders.

What is Unique about the Hooga Daytona?

“Precision Geometry Built for Airtime. Go over holes & bumps without issues.” According to Voro’s listing on their website, the Hooga Daytona is positioned as an off-roading + trick scooter. It certainly has plenty of power to pull that off, the only thing remaining to test would be the suspension. Since the scooter is rated to carry an incredible 380 lbs, we’re pretty sure the suspension is extremely tough and could handle bumps + jumps.

The Freshly Charged Take

It’s nice to see another dual stem scooter from a premium brand enter the competition. Kaabo has dominated the dual stem space for a while, even Dualtron’s most powerful scooters have always remained single stem. We’re excited to get our hands on one for thorough testing. If you like Kaabo’s products but want something even more extreme and hopefully a tad more reliable, the Hooga Daytona is the scooter for you.
