Solar Hyperion – Super Scooter or Hyper Scooter?

by Nathan Schaumann

The Solar Hyperion ($3299), launched in 2024, targets 65 mph with dual 3500W motors, a 72V 40Ah Samsung battery, and 11-inch tire options. It has adjustable suspension and a large 22.5-inch deck for riders up to 330 pounds. Among super scooters, it is priced fairly and has roughly the specs we would expect from a flagship model, along with the typical Solar scooter IP66 water rating and no-nonsense aesthetics.

Things We Love

  1. Impressive Power and Range: With a huge 40 amp-hour, 72-volt battery and dual motors delivering a combined peak power of 9,340 Watts, the Hyperion has excellent range and acceleration. It roughly equals the Inmotion RS and the RoadRunner RX7.
  2. Roomy and Adjustable Design: The scooter features a spacious 22.5-inch long, 10-inch wide deck and adjustable hydraulic suspension, accommodating riders of nearly any size (up to 330 pounds). I personally love riding scooters with my wife, and this would be the perfect tandem scooter.
  3. Water Rating: IP66 is the best water rating in the industry, and we typically only see this high of a rating from companies like Solar and Apollo.

Room for Improvement

  • Less Portable Due to Size and Weight: Despite being relatively nimble for a hyper scooter, its large size and bulk make it harder to transport compared to smaller scooters, a common trade-off for high-performance models like this.
