The brand new Aventure.2 took some of the biggest issues we had with the original Aventure and improved upon them. Aventon’s biggest upgrade to the Aventure.2 is the upgrade from cadence sensor to torque sensor.
If you are looking for a great all-around fat tire ebike backed by US-based customer service, you’ll want to add the Aventon Aventure.2 to your list.

What type of sensor is on the Aventon Aventure.2
The Aventure.2 features a torque sensor.
On the original Aventure, there was a noticeable delay in the pedal assist kicking in and when you stopped pedaling, the bike motor would still run for about 10-15 feet.
With the new torque sensor, there is no more delay in pedal assist and no more runoff after you stop pedaling.
If you are looking for a natural cycling experience, you will want to go with a torque sensor.
A torque sensor measures the force a rider applies to the pedals and delivers the appropriate power output in a smooth natural manner. Whereas a cadence sensor measures the number of revolutions the rider pedals to activate the motor resulting in a more jerky riding experience.
What type of lights are on the Aventon Aventure.2?
The Aventure.2 features a headlight, tail lights, turn signal indicators, and brake lights.
The front headlight is small but is bright and provides ample light for safe night riding.
The rear lights are integrated into the rear of the frame on both sides, an upgrade from the prior model, and you can see the turn signal indicators in direct sunlight.
I am always impressed with the lights on Aventon Ebikes.
What type of suspension is on the Aventon Aventure.2?
The Aventure.2 features Zoom coil suspension with 80mm of travel. The suspension has a hydraulic lockout and you can adjust the preload.
The suspension works great for casual offroading, but not for technical mountain bike trails. There is no rear suspension so consider adding a suspension seat post. Your butt will thank you.
I suggest buying the 27.2 mm Suntour suspension seat post from Amazon because it is almost $40 cheaper than buying the same one directly from Aventon.
Aventon’s first sustainable packaging!
We have unboxed a lot of ebikes which means we’ve dealt with a lot of styrofoam and zipties. The Aventon Aventure.2 is the only ebike we’ve ever unboxed with zero zip ties and styrofoam.
Aventon replaced all the styrofoam with cardboard inserts and used tightly wound paper to replace the zip ties. On top of using all recyclable materials, you can convert the box into a chair.
I love that Aventon has moved towards sustainable packaging and hope other manufacturers will do the same.
What type of brakes are on the Aventon Aventure.2
The Aventure.2 features Tektro hydraulic brakes with 180mm brake discs.
The original Aventure, we reviewed had Zoom hydraulic brakes. I prefer Tektro hydraulic brakes over Zoom brakes because they modulate slightly better and don’t feel so grabby.
Where is Aventon’s customer service based?
Aventon listened to their customers and brought back the ability to call and speak directly to a customer service agent. They offered it in the past but Aventon grew so quickly that they went to only using email to resolve customer service issues.
Aventon’s customer service team is based in the US. You can call them on the phone or you can email them if you have any questions or need to file a warranty claim.
You can reach Aventon’s customer service team at 1-866-300-3311 between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm PST.

Aventon’s proprietary display
Aventon uses one of the best color displays we have seen on any ebike.
Some features I like about the display are that it shows you calories burned, kilograms of CO2 emissions saved, and how many trees were saved during your ride. It’s a fun way to track your ride progress. While some may find these features kind of gimmicky, others will love the gamified ride experience.
The display is easily controlled with the buttons on the left side of the handlebar.
The Aventon Aventure.2 Mobile App brings it to the future
The color display on the Aventon Aventure.2 is Bluetooth enabled. One of my favorite features of the app is that it allows you to track your rides.
The app stores your current and previous rides, giving details of your average speed, top speed, distance traveled, CO2 emissions saved, and calories burnt.
You can also use the app to motivate you against other Aventon riders. There is a section in the app for cycling rank. The cycling rank will show you how you rank against other Aventon riders for the day, week, month, and total.
There is a discover tab in the app that allows you to share pictures and post with other Aventon riders. The app even allows you to find local Aventon dealers for repairs.
Aventon is looking to capitalize on the popularity of social bike competitive apps and programs such as Peloton and Strava.
What is the water resistance rating for the Aventon Aventure.2?
The Aventon Aventure.2 has an IPX4 water resistance rating.
IPX4 means the bike is protected from splashing water, no matter the direction. You do not want to ride the Aventure.2 in heavy rain.
Most manufacturers do not cover water damage, even when there is a high IP rating.

What I hate about the Aventon Aventure.2
- The throttle only works with pedal assist levels on
- Heavy
- Need a special trailer hitch rack to transport bike
There is not much to hate about the Aventon Aventure.2. They fixed the biggest issue I had with the original Aventure by changing the cadence sensor to a torque sensor.
I like to ride ebikes without pedal assist, using the throttle when starting out or going up a hill. On the Aventon, you must have pedal assist turned on to use the throttle.
I wish that I could throttle with no pedal assist levels on, but a lot of ebikes do that for safety reasons. They want you to be able to turn off the pedal assist and not have to worry about hitting the throttle accidentally.
If you plan on transporting the bike, you want to be aware that it is 77 lbs with the battery in and most racks don’t fit fat tires or have the weight capacity. You will want to make sure your rack is rated to carry such a heavy bike or buy a special ebike carrier.
Final Thoughts
If you want one of the most refined fat tire ebikes with the latest and greatest technology at an affordable price, the Aventon Aventure.2 should be at the top of your list. I love that Aventon has been refreshing their ebikes by adding torque sensors to their already popular ebike lines.
Aventon keeps adding safety features like bright integrated lights and turn signal indicators. The color display is one of the best and it can easily be read in direct sunlight. The app allows you to connect with local riders and compete on a national level.
The Aventon Aventure.2 is a great choice for those looking to ebike in all seasons due to the fat tires and IPX4 water resistance rating. If you are looking to tackle various terrains and ride year-round, you can’t go wrong by choosing the Aventon Aventure.2.
