The Wolf King GTR Max is Kaabo’s latest electric scooter, and it is a refresh of the original Wolf King GTR, which we reviewed previously here. The GTR was already one of the fastest, heaviest, and best off-road scooters, and the GTR Max takes it up a notch. Let’s check out what the upgrades are.

Appearance: The picture on the left is the black and yellow of the original GTR, while the picture on the right shows the black/red and yellow of the new GTR Max. No major changes, but a few highlights added to the deck covering. The ride height has also been decreased slightly, from 258mm to 224mm (10.2″ to 8.8″), and the wires now run through the stem tubes instead of around them.

Removable Motor: The Kaabo website advertises a “removable” motor, and while all motors are technically removable, we’re guessing they just upgraded the design to make it easier to detach the motor from the wheel rim. Motors are notoriously difficult to work on and remove, so this is a welcome change. The diameter of the motor has also been increased to 7″.

Suspension Height: The suspension height/travel has been increased from 10mm to 12mm, which slightly increases the dampening when traveling over rocks or bumps. My previous experience with the GT and GTR series scooters is that the suspension is too stiff and unresponsive, so this addresses that issue.

Deck Size: The deck size has been increased on the Wolf King GTR Max, and while dimension aren’t given explicitly, it looks from images like the the deck is slightly wider. The GT and GTR decks are already some of the largest decks we have seen on hyperscooters, but I guess more room can’t hurt. The rubber covering has a different pattern as the original GTR, as well.
Battery: The battery is removable, like with the original GTR, but the battery size has been increased from 72V 33.5Ah (2419 Wh) to 72V 40Ah (2845 Wh). This ups the realistic range from 40 miles to about 50 miles.
Weight: The larger battery adds a lot of weight to the Wolf King GTR Max, with the weight increasing from 138 lbs to 147 lbs. That is… a lot of scooter. This is definitely not a portable scooter, and so it is a huge added bonus that they have kept the removable battery feature.
The Freshly Charged Take – Kaabo Wolf King GTR Max
I have owned 2 Wolf King GTRs, and my main complaint was the ride height (comically and unnecessarily high) and the extremely small battery, especially in relation to the power and the price. Both of these issues are addressed somewhat with the Wolf King GTR Max, but I still would like to see much lower ride height (possibly adjustable like the Inmotion RS) and an even larger battery, perhaps 72V 50Ah. The Dualtron X Limited is still the range king with an 84V 60Ah battery, and it would be nice to see some other manufacturers even attempt to compete.
